About Dental Works

Based on East Desert Cove Avenue in the Central Scottsdale area of Scottsdale, Arizona, Dental Works is a dental practice serving the area. Dentures replace some or all of the natural teeth in a jaw with a removable appliance, custom-fitted to the mouth. A full denture replaces every tooth; a partial fills gaps where some natural teeth remain. Because the jaw bone reshapes over time, dentures typically need adjusting or remaking periodically.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Dental Works located in Scottsdale?
Dental Works is on East Desert Cove Avenue in the Central Scottsdale area of Scottsdale, Arizona (85260).
What days is Dental Works open?
Dental Works is open Monday through Thursday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Dental Works offer?
Listed services at Dental Works include Dentures. The full list is shown on this page.
Do dentures need to be replaced?
Yes, over time. The jaw bone gradually changes shape after teeth are lost, so a denture that fitted well originally becomes loose and needs relining or remaking to fit properly again.
Can dentures be supported by implants?
Yes, and it is a common solution for a lower denture that will not stay put. Implants anchor the denture so it does not move while eating or speaking, which is the most frequent complaint about conventional lower dentures.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve been a patient at Dental Works for 26 years, and they have consistently provided outstanding care. The entire team is friendly, professional, and truly cares about their patients. I highly recommend Dental Works to anyone looking for an excellent dental office.

I am rating this dental practice one star for two completely separate reasons. First, and foremost, the quality of their dental work is sub par. I had two crowns (tooth 18 and tooth 19) made and placed in my mouth less than 8 years ago. They were aligned improperly and have already had to be replaced. Thank goodness my current dentist in New England is extraordinary and was able to make me new crowns (the same day, mind you) that fit perfectly. This is just one example of their poor “work.” The second reason for their rating is their billing practice. Their bills were always very confusing. Additionally, I had to pay by check, otherwise I would be charged an additional fee for using a credit card. That should never happen. Do yourself a favor and find another dental practice to provide dental care if you live in the Scottsdale area.

Kind, patient, thorough. Family owned and run and incredibly dedicated to their craft. As a dental-phobic patient they have been endlessly patient and supportive working with me to gain confidence and to help me navigate some fairly complex dental work. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Well, I called Dr. Work’s emergency number on a Sunday morning and he got back to me within minutes and set up an appointment for the next day. Recommended by a friend, I became a patient for life. What a kind, caring, gentle professional Dr Work is. He is joined by an equally wonderful staff. He should be all of Scottsdale’s designated dentist 🦷 I had two teeth extracted today and a painful abscess addressed. His care and concern for my comfort during the procedure was outstanding and he walked me through every step, reassuring me and making sure I was ok. I didn’t really think there were people like him in dentistry. - a great, great experience. Go see him.

Dr. Terry Work, Dr. Mary Ann Work and their staff are extraordinary healthcare providers who are holistic in evaluating the best treatment options for the patient's overall well-being. The most updated procedures in dental care delivered with great skill, empathy and kindness.

Dr. Works and his team were absolutely wonderful. He was very gentle while working in a painful area around a broken tooth and talked me through the entire process. Everyone was friendly and reassuring. They even have massage chairs, which was an added bonus when I was otherwise having a pretty crummy day. The entire process was efficient and professional, and the added sense of humor took the edge off, making a dentist visit better than anyone could have hoped! I’d give 10 stars if I could!

I had pain due to the fact I went to a dentist my insurance paid for and it was not the best. But Dr. Work looked at my issue and went right in to fix it. Can say that the pain I had for over 2 weeks was gone in less then 2 hours of entering Dental Works. Due to horror stories I said I would never ever get a root canal but Dr Terry Work got in talked to me and made me relaxed enough that it all went smooth now I have a pain free tooth instead of a hole from another extraction.
