About Desert Valley Oral Surgery

Desert Valley Oral Surgery operates on East Baseline Road in the Dana Professional Village Condominium area of Gilbert, Arizona. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Desert Valley Oral Surgery located in Gilbert?

What days is Desert Valley Oral Surgery open?
Desert Valley Oral Surgery is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Desert Valley Oral Surgery offer?
Listed services at Desert Valley Oral Surgery include Wisdom Teeth Removal. The full list is shown on this page.
What age is best to have wisdom teeth taken out?
Late teens to early twenties is often easier, because the roots are less fully formed and bone is more forgiving, so healing tends to be quicker. Removal is still routinely done later when there is a reason for it.
How long is recovery after wisdom tooth removal?
Most of the swelling and discomfort settles within about a week, with the first two or three days the most noticeable. Surgical removal of an impacted tooth generally takes longer to recover from than a simple extraction.
How can I look after my teeth between appointments?
Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between the teeth daily covers most of it. Limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount consumed.

My boyfriend recently moved here from Iowa and had an issue that only an oral surgeon could fix! I searched Google and Dr Hansen and the Desert Valley office came up. We went to the Gilbert office and Dr Hansen and his staff were absolutely amazing!! You are in great hands with this office!! I would highly recommend!! Thank you so much for making an uncomfortable procedure go well for him!

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Save yourself the hassle and avoid dealing with this provider. We had a mediocre experience with Dr Grant and the medical staff, but it went south quickly when they over charged us by $1,540. This is not a small amount; they price gouged us and intended to keep the money. I waited 4 months after the EOB came back and then called to check on the balance on the account. They refused to acknowledge that they owed us a refund for months! After many calls, several in person visits, and 3 calls with insurance...they reluctantly agreed they owed me a refund with the insurance provider on the line. A whole 3 months went by since they agreed to cut a check, and when I finally got a check in the mail, they wrote it out to my minor daughter since she was the patient. The banks will no longer cash checks written to minors (third party). I am absolutely at my wits end - I am shocked at the clear disregard and lack of integrity. I paid for the procedure in good faith and all I have asked for is that they return my money back. I was never rude to their staff, I didn't yell, I patiently checked in and let them know how unacceptable their response has been. I understand there's always a process and things take time, but this experience made me feel helpless and I started to weigh my legal options. They work within a partner network called Oral Surgery Partners and no one at the practice can actually help or do anything. It seems their hands are tied with a corporate network that doesn't care about patients, they just want your money! If you have already done business with them, check your EOBs to see if they owe you money - but good luck getting it back!

I had a really great experience here. Dr. Grant and everyone I encountered in the office took great care of me. I appreciated the professionalism, and calm demeanor of Dr.Grant. He answered all questions, I was in and out super quickly and it has been a really easy recovery. I would recommended this office to anyone and would come back for any other needs in the future. Thanks so much!!

I had a tongue biopsy done here recently and the experience was as positive as a tongue biopsy could possibly be. All of the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The surgeon seemed to genuinely care about my issue and was very thorough in explaining to me what was going on, why it was going on, and what I needed to do on my own in order to solve my issue. There was an issue with billing, but Holly went out of her way to make sure I was taken care of as best as possible. She's definitely a great asset to their business and to anyone she works with. She went above and beyond to help me and let me know what I need to do on my end with insurance. I cannot thank you enough, Holly! It matters when you make people feel like they matter and that's how felt. Overall a great experience.

The staff are so amazing here! I think I now have diabetes, they were so sweet! From start to finish, they treat their patients like family members. You will feel more like a guest. Upfront with costs, and answered all questions before my proceedure. I arrived early, was out 5 mins after my appt time was scheduled for. Absolutely fantastic front office staff.

My husband is on blood thinners. Regular dentists were reluctant to give him the care he needed to extract some teeth, but Dr. Hanson stepped up and treated him without a problem. The second time was a real Godsend, as our regular dentist failed to deliver on their commitment and we were left in the lurch. I’m now confident that my husband’s oral health is on the mend, thanks to Dr, Hanson’s expertise and compassionate care.
