I recommend Dr. Chen and Associates to anyone looking for a dentist in the Baltimore area! I HATE HATE HATE going to the dentist, but can honestly say that every time I have been to Dr. Chen and Associates (over the last 5 years), I walked out thinking, "that wasn't so bad". They are really great!

Beth was very helpful and my cleaning went well.

The only reason I started using this service was because my spouse works at Johns Hopkins, making the Baltimore location highly convenient at the time. Even after we moved to Columbia, I continued to make the 40-minute drive just to finish my implant with the same doctor, believing continuity of care was best. However, this implant process dragged on for over two years with no end in sight. Every visit, they found new excuses to delay the procedure—such as discovering a cavity or claiming I needed a root canal. Despite having an excellent dental plan through Johns Hopkins, I still ended up paying hundreds of dollars out of pocket every single time. The final straw came when I actually needed a root canal. The doctor insisted I use a specific clinic he referred me to, which was a 1.5-hour drive from my new home in Columbia. When I told him I preferred to find a provider closer to home, he became visibly annoyed. He then claimed he would refuse to continue my implant work unless I went to his specific referral, or someone who specializes in root canals that I need his approval, which made no sense to me. Feeling uncomfortable and pressured, I switched to a dentist in Columbia. Not only did my new dentist finish the remaining implant work smoothly within a single month, but they are also incredibly honest and actively try to save patients money. I later found out that many people in my community trust them for this exact reason. I strongly feel my previous dentist was just looking for ways to maximize profit rather than offering genuine dental solutions. For example, right after extracting my tooth, he pushed me to get an implant-supported denture—which was completely unnecessary, especially during COVID when everyone was wearing masks anyway. If I remember correctly, it wasn’t covered by insurance, and it cost me $800 cash.

I’ve been a patient here for several years. It’s a really good practice with terrific people. From newer employees to the seasoned veterans, everyone does everything they can to make sure I am well taken care of. And Dr. Chen is a great dentist and a really good person! I highly recommend this practice!

This dental practice is the best I’ve ever been to my whole life! The staff were so friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. Dr. Kim is a true professional that listened to all my concerns, explained everything she was doing, and help my prioritize the dental work I needed. They even took my insurance, filed the claim, and communicated with insurance about future work. I cannot recommend this practice strong enough.

I am a high maintenance patient. I don’t like anything about being at the dentist and it gives me anxiety. I said as much to my hygienist Beth and she took it in stride and totally catered to me. Kept me updated on what she was doing, checked in on me, and was so comforting. I still don’t love going but it’s way better for me than before.

This entire office is fabulous. But I especially love Beth. She has been Awesome over the many years I have been going to this practice. And Dr Chen is a great dentist who listens as well as he performs his craft.

Dr Chen and team were soo awesome! The team is friendly and warm. Dr Chen is very personable, funny and gentle. He applied topical and I barely felt the needle or the procedure itself. Dr Chen paused throughout the process to ask if I was okay. He also answered all of my questions.

Everyone at this office is so wonderful! The check in process was quick, everyone I interacted with was friendly, warm, and professional. Dr. Kim is fantastic! I put off going to the dentist for a long time and I never will again. Highly recommend this practice, particularly if you have dental anxiety or have had previous negative experiences. They will put you at ease and explain every step.
