**She somehow has 2 google review profiles for the same address** I arrived hoping to find a new dentist closer to home after moving 40 minutes away from my old dentist who has practiced for over 20 years in Austin, who has hygienists that have worked for him for 17 yrs. Though she is friendly and her office staff is actually even friendlier, she really pushes a lot of unbelievably unnecessary treatments on your very first visit. Would anyone in their right mind actually feel comfortable with a brand new dentist telling them not only do you need a crown for these reasons, but we are ready (and are very eagerly) wanting you to get this crown done Today. How is she not aware that this could not be one of the reddest of flags? I expect and hope she changes her for-profit business plan after reading this. Note: never try pushing first time patients to have a crown done during their very first visit, while telling staff to ready the chair, and saying "did he say yes?" or discussing patient decisions in the lobby in front of the patients and people waiting. 2nd pt. For major work, my old dentist has Never performed major work on the very same day of diagnosis. NEVER in 5 years of seeing him. This made her seem not busy or booked at all, to suddenly have plenty of free time to perform a $1,000 crown on the very same day as diagnosis? Why even ask current or new clients to have Major work done on the same day of diagnosis?? How is this approach supposed to make patients feel she actually cares about them and not their bank account ? Some people actually appreciate having time to look at their finances and see how they can afford the major work that she has chosen to diagnose as 100% "necessary" for their dental health. Final pt. Here's how the Out Of Pocket costs differ between my very first visit with Dr. Sharma, and my visit with the older dentist who has been practicing for over 20 years $2,127.00 (after the $1,000 insurance max) vs. $50.00 My north Austin dentist visit went like this: Note, he has practiced in Austin for over 20 yrs normal preventative cleaning, continued notes on which areas they will keep monitoring ZERO recommendations in his professional opinion for any other work at this time. No cavities that actually needed work, no talk of a crown at all. Why are these professional opinions from both very experienced dentists so drastically different ... ? How is that even possible. Why is another dentist who's been practicing for over 20 years in North Austin, why is His professional opinion $3,000 less than your professional opinion of what is 100% needed for my dental health ... ? When I move to Kyle, TX eventually, I will be going with my high school friend's recommendation to see Broberg, without hesitation. I cannot comfortably return to see you Dr. Sharma after you: 1. formed a $3,000 professional opinion of what my dental health needs that ended up being unbelievably unneccessary relative to the work my old dentist said was needed based on his 20 years of experience and continuing education. 2. tried to have major work completed on the very same day as the diagnosis, as well as within my very first visit to your office, how do these action decisions of yours help to create the best first impression, and to make new and current patients feel like they are truly being cared for? It came off as a Sales pitch. 3. why do you discuss anything at all about patient decisions at the front desk which had one person waiting? And in front of the patient as well. I have never seen this behavior from a professional dentist! Maybe when she was younger, and to all of her current and loyal clients, she is a great dentist. As another review said well, when she's not having a great day, it is as if she is taking it out on either the patient and/or her staff. Multiple reviews state this. I pray she doesn't yell at her staff after reading this, they were the kindest and coolest part of the experience, truly.
I put off writing this review, but after getting a 2nd opinion today, I advise all to run (not walk) away from Dr. Sharma’s Grand Oaks Dentistry practice. 1) I moved to Austin & picked Dr. Sharma’s practice as her location was close to where I lived & her reviews “seemed” to be good 2) While she seemed to be a good dentist at first (& I have zero qualms with the staff there), she was always trying to upsell me … … EVERY time I came in she wanted to sell me the mouth wash she sold in her office (I think it was $18 for a 12-16oz bottle, so it was not cheap) … EVERY time I came in she wanted to sell me a mouth guard even though I had repeatedly told her that I already had one … EVERY time I came in she wanted to do x-rays – every dentist that I had gone to previously only did x-rays once per year since that’s all insurance pays for, so I question why she felt that x-rays were needed during each cleaning visit (teeth don’t generally change that much in year) 3) Dr. Sharma talked me into doing my first crown which I was apprehensive about. I decided to go ahead & get the crown, but the actual cost (my out of pocket) for the crown was much higher than her office originally quoted. 4) As all of the above kept piling up & I began questioning if the crown she did was even really needed, I decided to find another dentist 5) Lastly & most importantly (the reason I’m writing this review today) – I’ve been to 2 different dentists since Dr. Sharma and both stated that the crown Dr. Sharma put in was NOT sealed properly. I have been told that this crown must be replaced as soon as possible as there is no way to know what damage/build up is occurring underneath the crown. This means another major expense due to shoddy work that was done less than 4 years ago. PS … be sure to read the glowing 5 star reviews … you’ll see several occur right after a bad review & they are all clumped together by dates – in other words, they are likely to be made up reviews to get Dr. Sharma’s rating to appear higher than the real patients writing reviews.
Dr. Dharma was very polite and straight forward with me about what really needs to be done. The whole staff is very friendly and that put my mind at ease.
Dr. Sharma and her staff are great and very welcoming! I began office visits last year. I was concerned about health and COVID safety protocols being followed when visiting a dental office during this time. However, their office goes above and beyond to ensure the safety of their patients. I have had several visits since then and have always felt my health is priority in all regards, from protocols that all staff follow to providing me with the best treatment options. Thank you Dr. Sharma and staff for taking such great care of me and all of your patients!
This place is great! Dr. Sharma fixed some chipped dental work from another dentist three years ago, and it's still holding strong. She and the staff take great care in your comfort and are very knowledgeable. Even though I've moved far from the area, I still go here because I've trusted her work so far and don't want to switch.
Best dentist I have ever had - The office always is welcoming and makes you feel like family. After switching from a corporate dentist that neglected my teeth in order to push high-priced procedures, Dr. Sharma has provided me with the utmost professional care. Dr. Sharma always makes it a point to work with my insurance to ensure I receive the highest quality of care, without paying anything out of pocket. My teeth have never been healthier thanks to Dr. Sharma and her team of professional staff!
I have long hated going to the dentist due to a very long history of dental issues since childhood. When we relocated it was one of the things I was dreading the most. However Dr. Sharma and her team made the experience incredible. They were thorough, KIND, pleasant and are a joy to visit. Dr. Sharma took great time to talk about options with me and I felt very heard and cared for. I didn’t feel taken advantage of or like anything offered was unnecessary. By far the best dental experience I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot! :) My first visit we created a care plan together. They were also very courteous to explain my options to me with what my insurance would cover and how to beat utilize that coverage. 6 out of 5 stars from me!!
I have had a great relationship with Dr. Sharma for going on 3 years now. She is amazing at what she does and really shows you she cares about you. I’ve recently started bringing my son to see her and the staff as well. They are all very friendly and personable and demonstrate the skills and professionalism you expect in a dentist office.
