About Dr. Jila Mahajan, DDS

Dr. Jila Mahajan, DDS operates on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Lakeshore area of Jacksonville, Florida. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. I want to say the ladies who was actually taking care of my son was great! I had no problem with them. However, the lady who does the billing part is rude had attitude and when I expressed my feelings, she only said this is what the doctor wants especially when I told her I can’t afford all that and let’s see if we can work on one tooth that I’m concerned about and expressed to me that what the doctor wants is to work on all of them together mind you the appointment isn’t all the way until September. I spoke to the other front desk, lady I requested to speak to the dentist. She said I will let her know so she will call you after hours. My appointment was June.10 I still have received any call from the doctor.after hearing so many great reviews from this place and hearing how patient they are with kids I’m very disappointed

I couldn’t be happier I found Dr Mahajan and Kids First Dentistry. Both my kids (9 and 6) have been going here since they had teeth. The entire staff goes out of their way to make sure children feel safe and comfortable. Not to mention the colorful painted walls and brightly colored chairs. I highly recommend!

Amazing dentist love her personality and patients! She truly is good with children and parents who dont quite know what their kids teeth need! Also the staff is always unbelievably patient with my child! My child started out screaming and hating opening her mouth now she has a positive outlook! We had the most amazing hygienist…. dont know her name but she had beautiful red nails for valentines and gorgeous eye lashes…. She was super tall and thin… she was sooo detailed and caring when it came to the exray… she even explained in very kid friendly detail so my daughter would understand what was needed!!!! Soooo good sooo thankful!!!

Dr. Mahajan and her staff are friendly and welcoming each visit. We have gone to Kids First dentistry for about 3 years. We need an emergency appointment and they did get us in the next day which helped a concerned mother. We have had an enjoyable experience there and the office is bright and cheery. Thank you!

The compassion and patience the staff shows my 4 year old autistic daughter is priceless. The tech took her time to make her feel comfortable and showed her the tools she was using. My 10 and 12 year old go here as well and Dr. Mahajan is very thorough with her work. 10/10!
