About Dr. John Brock, DDS

Dr. John Brock, DDS operates on 16th Street Road in Huntington, West Virginia. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.

Cosmetic dentistry covers treatment aimed primarily at appearance — whitening, veneers, bonding, and reshaping among the more common options — for patients who are less concerned with a problem that hurts than with how their smile looks day to day. The right combination depends on what specifically you would like to change.

Oral surgery covers procedures beyond routine treatment — surgical extractions including impacted wisdom teeth, implant placement, and bone grafting among the more common ones. The distinguishing feature is generally that tissue is opened and closed as part of the procedure, rather than treated at the surface.

TMJ treatment addresses pain, clicking, or restricted movement in the jaw joint, often linked to teeth grinding, clenching, injury, or stress. A custom night guard is the most common starting point, reducing strain on the joint and surrounding muscles.

Dentists commonly treat mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea with a custom oral appliance that repositions the jaw to keep the airway open overnight, often used by patients who cannot tolerate a CPAP machine. A sleep study is generally the starting point for diagnosis.

An extraction removes a tooth that cannot reasonably be saved — from advanced decay, severe infection, impaction, or overcrowding ahead of orthodontic treatment. Done under local anaesthetic, the appointment itself is not painful, though soreness for a few days afterward is normal.

At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts. My husband and I have a "lovely" over $800 bill from this office WE owe due to someone that absolutely did NOT have our permission to use our information. Only the patient that is outright stealing our info can make US not responsible for the bill. How is that fair we are on the hook for something we had no clue about...let alone gave our permission to bill us
