Dr. Michael F. Lessner, DDS

Around 2005, I lost the crown to a top front tooth to a Sugar Daddy. Dr. Lessner put on a temporary crown that looked like white chicklet, and I didn't smile for the week I had it. The permanent veneer, however, looks great. It's still in my mouth, still matches the color of my teeth, and every dentist I have seen since has complimented the quality of work and the detail and say the color matching is phenomenal.

This is a good dentist in my experience. Highly recommend Dr. Lessner.

It is always a pleasant visit. I have had root canals and other dental work and always with minimal pain. Dr. Lessner and his staff are sincere and provide exceptional service.

I came to Dr. Lessner/Central Austin Dentistry as a new patient. While I was very satisfied with Dr. Lessner, his front desk staff, and the dental assistant that did my new patient x-rays, I was extremely dissatisfied with my experience with the hygienist that I saw. My complete cleaning took less than twenty minutes, a process that typically has taken closer to an hour with prior dentists. The "cleaning" felt more like she was haphazardly picking through my teeth without any rhyme or reason. The "polishing" was just a quick pass over the front of my teeth, no nooks or crannies. I'm going to give this office another try, with a different hygienist. However, this was not a good first impression. Update: Upon contacting the office about my first experience, they were very prompt in responding and rectifying the situation. I received a re-cleaning with a different hygienist, and this was very thorough.

I've been using Dr. Lessner's services for about 4-5 years now. Contrary to what some of the other reviews say, I've only had good experiences there. Multiple hygienists have worked very thoroughly and carefully on my teeth/gums, and I always leave feeling satisfied. I was also able to get custom whitening trays made here at an affordable price! Another reviewer claims that this office doesn't send reminders to their patients about appointments, but that is simply not the case. The staff is professional, friendly, and always see me promptly. I highly recommend this office.

There are better dentist options in Austin! As mentioned by another reviewer, the cleanings are typically not thorough. Also, you will have to wait several months to actually get an appointment. That means if you have an 'semi-urgent' dental issue (such as tooth pain/sensitivity), you will need to wait months to be seen. If you like getting reminders about your appointments (emails and phone calls), then you should also look for another dentist. I thought Dr. Lessner himself was nice and friendly, but just the overall coordination of this office is lacking. Again, there are better options in Austin.

My wife and I have been seeing Dr Lessner twice a year for 2 years. Recently, we have become fed up with the repeated marginal cleaning jobs of one of the main hygienists. The hygientist loves to chat about dogs and kids, but this comes at the expense of a thorough cleaning. 3 minutes spent on polishing does not cut it. Gum pocket depth not measured or recorded. This is a real shame because Dr Lessner is a good dentist. He's quite friendly and does solid work. Only downside of Dr. Lessner is that he's old school in terms of dental technology. You won't find any dental lasers or hi res dental camera systems. He would be an even better dentist if he invested $$$ in the latest dental technology.
