About Dr. Michael J. Cafarella, DMD

Dr. Michael J. Cafarella, DMD is a dental practice at 130 East 18th Street in the Gramercy neighborhood of Manhattan. The practice provides general dentistry and dental implant services, including complex implant cases such as broken implant hardware removal and replacement, for patients in the Gramercy and Union Square area of lower Manhattan.

Dental implant treatment is a central service at this practice. This includes both the surgical implant placement phase and the restorative crown phase, as well as complex cases such as failed implant removal and replacement. Patients who have had implant complications at other practices have found the practice equipped to manage those situations, including the removal of broken internal implant hardware and the placement of a new implant in the same appointment.

General dental services are also provided for patients seeking routine examinations and care. Patients considering implant treatment or any restorative procedures at this practice are strongly advised to request a detailed written treatment plan with itemized fees for each individual phase of the planned work before agreeing to begin. Each phase of implant treatment — the surgical placement, the healing period, the abutment, and the final crown — has associated costs that should be clearly documented in writing before any work starts.

Patients are further advised to review all billing communications carefully. If any charge appears on your account, credit card, or billing statement that does not correspond to a service you received or agreed to in your written treatment plan, contact the practice immediately in writing and request a detailed explanation. Keeping a written record of your treatment plan, the fees you were quoted, all payments made, and the dates they occurred will be essential if any billing discrepancy needs to be addressed or disputed.

East 18th Street in Gramercy is close to Union Square, served by the 4/5/6, L, N/Q/R/W trains at 14th Street — Union Square. The practice is accessible from Gramercy, Kips Bay, the East Village, and the Flatiron District, and sits on East 18th Street between Park Avenue South and Irving Place.

Patients considering this practice for dental implants or general dental care should obtain full written documentation of costs and the scope of treatment before beginning any work, and should monitor billing statements closely throughout the course of treatment.

I went to see Dr Michael Cafarella five years ago, he was my main dentist. Every time I left the office I always said to myself how great of an experience it was, from the staff to the service to the ambience. Anyways, five years ago I moved abroad, and have been to a few dentists since, and each dentist that looks at my implant always says “whoever did your back tooth did a great job.” So I think it’s safe to say half a decade later not only do I remember Dr Cafarella’s great service, but dentists 6,000 miles away from NYC remarks on it too.

Terrible dentist , keeps billing my credit card for services that he didn’t do ! Be aware of your surroundings when dealing with this dentist . I wouldn’t go here unless you have no other options!

Dr. Cafarella is a dentist for life!!!!!!!! I had almost given up hope! Poor dental work had left my teeth in a bad state. And then, 5 years ago someone recommended Dr. Cafarella. I'm soo sooooo grateful. He's so proficient and careful and he's genuinely one of the nicest, calmest dentists I've ever met. He won't overcharge you. Unlike some dentists. His office is humble. And I like that. I know I'm not being charged for fancy digs. I know I'm being sold something i don't need. He's an honest dentist.

I had so many mishaps, bad implants, and over billing with this doctor. I’m doing everything over with another dentist just so I don’t have to see him again. Look around. There are better dentists

I had a complicated dental issue, a broken implant with the screw broken off inside it. Dr Cafarella not only made me comfortable with what needed to be done, he did an astonishing job — winkled out the screw, removed the implant and put in a replacement, all in one visit. My general dentist was astonished. I’d never had to consult a Prosthodontist before — I’ll be recommending this one to others.
