About Drs. Monteleone & Kessler, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Drs. Monteleone & Kessler, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is a dental practice on West Estrella Street in the Palma Ceia West area of Tampa, Florida. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. You can reach Drs. Mild, brief sensitivity is common and often relates to exposed root surfaces or worn enamel. Sensitivity that lingers after the cold is removed is more significant and worth having examined, as it can indicate the nerve is involved.

I cannot recommend Dr. Kessler enough!!! I was extremely anxious about getting my wisdom teeth out- as I had one removed previously with a different surgeon and it was a traumatizing experience. Dr. Kessler and his team were so accommodating and empathetic of my situation, and stopped at nothing to make sure I felt comfortable and safe. The entire team, from the women working at the front desk to his dental assistants were angels, I could not have been more at ease. I had a complicated surgical case that required general anesthesia, but Dr. Kessler handled my case with such professionalism and precision that I felt essentially nothing! Only a few days post-op, but my pain is minimal as well as swelling... and I could not be more thankful! There is no other option than Dr. Kessler and his team in Tampa!!! Will recommend him a thousand times over. Thank you, Dr. Kessler!

I cannot recommend Dr. Monteleone enough! From the initial consultation to the procedure and through recovery, the entire experience was seamless. I was particularly nervous about the general anesthesia, but Dr. Monteleone took the time to address my concerns and made me feel completely at ease. His level of care after the surgery really stood out as he personally called me to check in on my recovery. Dr. Monteleone is skilled oral surgeon who genuinely cares about his patients!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Pediatric Dental Care Dr. Monteleone and his staff in Tampa provided exceptional care for my 6-year-old son, Noah. From start to finish, the entire experience was professional, efficient, and compassionate. Dr. Monteleone demonstrated outstanding skill as a dental surgeon and was able to keep my son comfortable and at ease throughout the procedure. Noah’s recovery was remarkably smooth—he healed quickly and returned to his normal routine the same day. I highly recommend Dr. Monteleone’s office for anyone seeking expert pediatric dental surgery with excellent patient care.

I hope I can properly express how exceptional my care was. I had a severely cracked, infected and abscessed tooth that went into my jaw bone with a twisted root. It required an oral surgeon to remove as well as a bone graph due to the damage. I was incredibly nervous and stressed because I had never been under anesthesia or had any sort of surgery before. Dr. Monteleone, Michelle, Shavonne, and his entire staff were incredibly patient and kind with me. Allowing me to ask all of my questions and my surgeon himself even followed up the day after the procedure to check on me. No pain. None. If you need oral surgery? This is definitely where you want to go.
