Affordable partnership dentistry on Ives Street in Providence's Wayland
Smyleee Rating
Very Good
Drs Rubinstein and Ducoff practice general and affordable dentistry at 362 Ives Street in the Wayland neighborhood of Providence's East Side — a dental partnership on a residential side street that connects the main East Side arteries of Angell Street and Wayland Avenue. Ives Street runs north-south through the Wayland neighborhood, named for Thomas P. Ives, one of the major Brown University benefactors of the early nineteenth century whose family was deeply embedded in Providence's merchant and civic history. The dual-surname partnership format — Rubinstein and Ducoff — reflects surnames with Ashkenazi Jewish heritage associations, a patient community historically well represented in Providence's East Side professional class. The practice's inclusion of affordable dental care alongside general dentistry signals attention to accessible pricing in an otherwise upscale neighborhood market.
Drs Rubinstein and Ducoff provide general dental care including comprehensive examinations, professional cleanings, dental radiographs, and restorative procedures — fillings, crowns — alongside the affordable dental positioning that distinguishes the practice from the higher-cost options in the neighborhood. Dental cleaning is specifically listed as a service emphasis, reflecting the preventive care focus that keeps the practice accessible to patients who might otherwise defer appointments due to cost. The partnership structure at 362 Ives Street allows the two named dentists to share clinical load and scheduling, providing patients with appointment availability beyond what a solo practitioner can offer.
Ives Street's position within the Wayland neighborhood places the practice within walking distance of Wayland Square, within reach of the Brown University and RISD communities along the parallel Angell Street and Waterman Street corridors, and accessible from the quieter residential blocks of the East Side's interior streets. The partnership's affordable framing within a traditionally expensive neighborhood dental market carves a specific niche for price-sensitive patients who still want East Side proximity for their dental care.
For Providence East Side patients seeking affordable general dental care from a named partnership practice on Ives Street, Drs Rubinstein and Ducoff offer accessible dentistry embedded in the heart of the Wayland neighborhood.

Rubenstine is great and the staff is generally amazing, however, the office should reconsider Dr. Persky. I’d highly recommend that you pursue another option if he’s the only dentist available. He began my filling yesterday by accidentally poking the outside of my lower lip with the numbing needle. It wasn’t a trust-building move, but for that alone, I wouldn’t have written a negative review. Accidents happen; I get it. Once the numbing agent wore off, I realized my bite was out of alignment and I returned to get the filling adjusted. They were able to get me back in right away, and I really appreciated that. Throughout the adjustment, however, Persky was condescending, repeatedly telling me that even though my bite felt off to me, it was all in my head. Was I polite? I was. Did he roll his eyes at me as he abruptly walked out of the room in frustration? He did. Had he simply said, “hey, I get it, what you’re feeling is normal. your alignment is going to feel a little off for a few days. it won’t cause any issues in the long run,” I wouldn’t be complaining. Instead, he told me “no, you’re not feeling that.” Here’s some unsolicited advice for doctors everywhere: don’t ever tell a patient that they’re not feeling something. This recommendation is all the more crucial if you’re a man and the patient isn’t a man. Even more so if you’re a white man and the patient is a black woman. Again, I want to re-emphasize that staff was empathetic and offered a follow-up appointment with Dr. Rubenstine. Persky is a liability to the reputation of the practice.
I joined this practice about 4 years ago when my dentist retired and have been so impressed. I had been contemplating getting crowns on discolored front teeth for over a decade, but I was nervous they would look artificial. Dr. Rubinstein promised me that she would ensure I was happy with them. Well, I finally did it, this past month, and they look AMAZING! They look almost exactly like my natural teeth, except not discolored. This exceptional quality is aligned with every dental cleaning and procedure I have had at this practice. They use state of the art technology and the highest standard of care. Highly recommend.
I randomly selected this dental office when I moved here from out of state a few years ago. It was very hard to find an office that was accepting new patients and I was happy that they would have me. I admit my last dental office in Atlanta rocked so much that it would almost be impossible to match satisfaction. I would’ve liked to at least given this place a B though and I tried. I was first with a dentist who gossiped about her hygienist. Every time she left the room and seemed to have an attitude problem towards others as well. I had and still have issues with a cavity that was filled from a few years ago. She got an attitude with me when I said that her best efforts were not resolving the pain that I was feeling so I finally just gave up. She has now since left the practice. I most recently was with a hygienist who took it upon herself to give me all the scoop on what was going on with that previous Dentist and why she really left. I just wanna come in and get my teeth cleaned but what’s really got me is that I just received an almost $500 bill for a service performed a year ago. I am now out of work and don’t have the money to pay it. I understand that sometimes the insurance process can take time, but this should’ve been flagged and I should’ve been made aware instead of receiving a sudden out of nowhere bill a year later. And honestly, the practice should’ve written it off. It’s super obvious on my bill that they were late in trying to collect. At the bare minimum, I should’ve received a phone call. Do better. I canceled my next appointment and will no longer be a patient at this office. May as well go to a chain dentist- thats what this felt like. I was just another number. Not what I would expect from a family practice.
An excellent dental practice with knowledgeable and caring hygienists and dentists. Couldn’t ask for a better experience.
Always excellent care! I trust the entire team. Dr. Rubinstein always explains everything and is very kind and knowledgeable.
