Elaine Ellis Center of Health — community care in Deanwood DC.
Smyleee Rating
Good
Elaine Ellis Center of Health is located at 1627 Kenilworth Avenue Northeast in Washington DC's 20019 zip code — a community health center in the Deanwood and Kenilworth neighborhood of far Northeast DC. Kenilworth Avenue NE in the 1600 block runs through one of DC's most underserved communities, east of the Anacostia River and well beyond the concentration of healthcare services in the downtown and Northwest DC corridors. Community health centers in this area serve populations with high rates of chronic disease and low rates of healthcare access compared to the wealthier DC neighborhoods west of the Anacostia.
The Elaine Ellis name suggests a center established in honor of a community figure or a founding donor, a common naming convention for community health organizations in underserved neighborhoods. Dental services within a community health center framework typically operate on a sliding-scale or subsidized basis, providing preventive care, professional cleanings, restorative treatments, extractions, and emergency dental management to patients who may be uninsured, on Medicaid, or otherwise facing cost barriers to private dental care.
Deanwood and Kenilworth are predominantly Black neighborhoods in far Northeast DC that have historically received less public and private investment than other parts of the city. Community health centers like the Elaine Ellis Center provide an anchor of healthcare access in communities where private practices are sparse and transportation to other parts of the city presents a barrier for patients without vehicles.
The 1627 Kenilworth Avenue NE address is accessible from the Deanwood and Minnesota Avenue Metro stations and the surrounding far Northeast DC street network. For Deanwood and Kenilworth residents who need community health dental services without traveling to other parts of the city, the Elaine Ellis Center of Health at Kenilworth Avenue provides accessible, mission-driven care in the heart of the community.

Every visit to Elaine Elliis is a pleasure! The staff is always professional, polite, and welcoming. I’m greeted with a smile every time, and many of the employees go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. Truly outstanding service!”
Just worst
I've decided to move my father back to Unity Parkside Medical due to delays in paperwork. Elaine Ellis slow processing is putting his Medicaid benefits at risk, and it took a month for him to secure an appointment.
I went in for one appointment and don't plan to return. The doctors visit was all of 15 minutes, she didn't address any of questions or concerns. Which means I am still in need of a consultation for the reason for my visit after my visit. I waited an hour for the lab tech and still didn't get the blood work done. I do not plan to return, ever! If I were you, I wouldn't call here after my experience. Go elsewhere!!!!!!
Always greeted with kindness and care from front desk staff. Handled with courtesy and professionalism! Area is always clean and comfortable. Been coming here for a very long time and refuse to change. The customer service from the front desk to the doctor and dentist ID exceptional.!!
Went to the dentist here yesterday. The best dentist ever She is very friendly. She's patient. She is such a wonderful person. No pain at all. When I first got there I was scared cuz I've been to a few dentists and felt nothing but pain. She make you feel comfortable. She's also very honest. I will continue to go here. I came home and talked about my dentist experience all day yesterday and I know they got tired of me talking but I was shocked with the results of going there. I appreciate you. Keep up the good work front desk staff was friendly as well nice place College Park Location
