About Endodontic Specialists

Based on Henderson Boulevard in the South Tampa area of Tampa, Florida, Endodontic Specialists is a dental practice serving the area. Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. Frequently Asked Questions

Endodontic Specialists is on Henderson Boulevard in the South Tampa area of Tampa, Florida (33609).
What days is Endodontic Specialists open?
Endodontic Specialists is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Endodontic Specialists offer?
Listed services at Endodontic Specialists include Root Canal Treatment. The full list is shown on this page.
Is a root canal as painful as people say?
The reputation is largely outdated. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and is usually no more uncomfortable than having a filling. The severe pain people associate with root canals is generally the infection beforehand, which the treatment relieves.
How do I know if I need a root canal?
Common signs are lingering pain after something hot or cold, pain when biting down, a tooth that darkens, or a persistent pimple-like spot on the gum. Diagnosis needs an examination and usually an X-ray, since these can point to other problems too.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

Be prepared for typical predatory healthcare. They literally tell you up front (the receptionist desk) that they recommend a "3D X-ray" that insurance "probably" won't cover, and they ask you to sign off on it. This tactic is repeated by the doctor--she suggested that the root canal might not be necessary, and could be confirmed exclusively by the 3D X-ray. What choice does one have but to trust the doctor? Naturally, this exclusive hi-tech X-ray confirmed exactly what the traditional X-ray showed. The only difference is $1,000 out-of-pocket. Shameless practice.

Who uses paper invoices via snail mail in 2025? This office does. I came home after a few months away to find a collection letter for my balance. When I called the office to pay, they said I had to work with the collection agency. Great dental work, terrible business practices. Every other doctor I work with uses email and text. This practice needs to escape from last-century practices. If the office acknowledges this, I may up my rating.

Dr. Michael O’Donnell and his assistant Anny are absolutely amazing. I recently had a root canal done, and it was by far the best experience I’ve ever had with this procedure—smooth and completely pain-free. The diagnosis was incredibly accurate, thanks to Dr. O’Donnell’s expertise and professionalism, and Anny’s gentle and kind support made the whole process even easier. I highly recommend ENDODONTIC SPECIALISTS if you’re looking for a proper diagnosis and top-notch dental work. Thank you, Dr. Michael, and thank you, Anny, for turning pain into a smile!

I had an excellent experience with Mrs. Nguyen and Alexis! I’ve always been anxious about dental procedures, but they both went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and at ease during my root canal. I honestly didn’t feel any pain what so ever Mrs. Nguyen was incredibly professional, gentle, and thorough, and Alexis was so kind and reassuring throughout the process. Thanks to their patience and care, I feel much more comfortable about going to the dentist now. I truly appreciate their expertise and kindness—highly recommend!
