About EndodonticsLA

Based on South Sepulveda Boulevard in the Westchester area of Los Angeles, California, EndodonticsLA is a dental practice serving the area. Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward. You can reach EndodonticsLA through this page to ask a question, check current availability, or request an appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is EndodonticsLA located in Los Angeles?
EndodonticsLA is on South Sepulveda Boulevard in the Westchester area of Los Angeles, California (90045).
What days is EndodonticsLA open?
EndodonticsLA is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does EndodonticsLA offer?
Listed services at EndodonticsLA include Root Canal Treatment. The full list is shown on this page.
Do I need a crown after a root canal?
Often yes, particularly on back teeth. A treated tooth loses internal structure and becomes more brittle, so a crown is usually recommended to protect it against fracture under chewing forces.
How many appointments does root canal treatment take?
It can sometimes be completed in one visit, though more complex teeth with several canals may need two. Which applies depends on the tooth involved and whether there is active infection to settle first.
Why do dentists take X-rays?
Decay between teeth and problems below the gumline are invisible to the naked eye, so X-rays are what reveal them. Modern digital images use a low dose and are taken only when clinically justified.

After taking a complete set of x-rays, including a 3D scan, my regular dentist’s recommendation was to have one tooth extracted and an implant inserted due to a suspected cyst and infection. I then called Endodontics LA for a second opinion, and they were able to squeeze me in that same afternoon. Dr. Shinn reviewed all of my dentist’s images, and he then called for additional x-rays to better view the suspect tooth and surrounding bone. Dr. Shinn concluded that I did not need the extraction and implant, saving me several thousand dollars. Thank you Dr. Shinn and your entire team for your expertise and excellent service!

What can I say about the staff at Dr. Shinn’s office!!!! From the moment I walked in the office, I felt at ease and at home. I was met with the warmest greeting by the administrative staff. Dr. Shinn should be called Dr. Smooth! It was my first root canal in life and I was scared to death because I didn’t know what to expect! Dr. Shinn’s bedside manner was impeccable! He educated me on what he was doing so I could understand the process. I never even felt the needle when he starting numbing me!! His assistant was sweet and kind as well! The part that I found most amazing about Dr. Shinn is that the evening of my procedure once I got home, I got a personal phone call from him to check on me and see how I was doing!!!! I had no pain!! I highly recommend him and his team if you ever need his services!!! If I could give him and his team 10 Stars on here I would! Thank you Dr. Shinn and I won’t be going to any other doctor should the need arise again!!!

I had such a wonderful experience during my root canal procedure. From the moment I walked in, the entire staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional. They were so understanding about my pain and especially my anxiety going into the procedure, which meant more to me than I can express. The doctor was gentle, patient, and took the time to explain everything clearly, helping me feel calm and comfortable throughout the process. What truly stood out was how compassionate everyone was — they genuinely cared about how I was feeling every step of the way. I was especially impressed when the Dr himself and the office called after hours to check on me and make sure I was doing well after the procedure. That level of care and follow-up really shows their dedication to their patients. I’m so grateful for such a positive experience and would highly recommend them to anyone needing a major dental procedure.

Great experience with this office. Michelle at the front desk is a gem, she was able to get me in right away after I had explained I had chipped my back molar and was concerned about needing a root canal. Dr. Shinn was great, he handled my dental anxiety well and was very honest when it came to diagnosis and next steps. Luckily I didn’t need any work done, however should the time come I will definitely go to Dr. Shinn.
