About Endodontists of Long Beach

Based on Pacific Coast Highway in the Park Estates area of Long Beach, California, Endodontists of Long Beach is a dental practice serving the area. Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. What happens if I do not get a root canal?
The infection inside the tooth does not resolve by itself. It typically progresses to an abscess and can spread into surrounding bone, and the tooth is far more likely to be lost. Extraction becomes the alternative once the tooth cannot be saved.
Do I need a crown after a root canal?
Often yes, particularly on back teeth. A treated tooth loses internal structure and becomes more brittle, so a crown is usually recommended to protect it against fracture under chewing forces.
Is it normal for teeth to be sensitive to cold?
Mild, brief sensitivity is common and often relates to exposed root surfaces or worn enamel. Sensitivity that lingers after the cold is removed is more significant and worth having examined, as it can indicate the nerve is involved.

Lovely, polite and considerate staff. They are focused on patient care first and foremost. Dr Aivaz is not only excellent at what he does but he truly focuses on what is the best thing for you. I was raised by a fabulous, honest, down-to-earth dentist and worked in his office, so I'm a little pickier than most. I had a root canal and despite all the the possibilities, I had zero pain during or after. Dr Aivaz reminds me of my gentle father. I have had a couple of previous root canals, one sent me to the emergency room. Without a doubt, the most gentle dental experience I have had since my father, who retired in 1989.

Dr. Avis and crew were amazing! I was in so much pain couldn’t sleep. I walked in and someone had canceled and he took me right in for treatment. I had a root canal and it’s funny to say that it was an amazing experience! The staff was amazing and pleasant! I was in and out in less than two hours pain-free! God bless this place and the people who provide services to the patients here.

I was referred by Dr Hosena (Belmont Dental) which by the way I LOVE. I needed a root canal specialist and was referred to this office. I am a TOTAL coward when it comes to dental work and they made me feel seen and comfortable. Best part… I got a mocha smoothie after my root canals… yes, I got two in one day. There was hardly any wait and I received treatment right away. They take insurance. I have Delta Dental. Thank you for the comfortable experience!!!!

The staff and doctors are extremely knowledgeable and very kind. I was impressed and grateful to be offered a protein shake after my procedure! My only suggestion would be to speak to your patients during these long procedures. Its very hard to lay there unable to speak, not knowing how things are going or how much longer it will be. Update your patient along the way. Its important! As a clinician I do my best to update my patients to lower their anxiety. As the patient, I realize how important it is! I have also already recommended your office to my team! Thanks for providing great care!
