About Engel Dental Center
Based on Center Lake Drive in the Wedgewood area of Charlotte, North Carolina, Engel Dental Center is a dental practice serving the area. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.
Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.
Oral surgery covers procedures beyond routine treatment — surgical extractions including impacted wisdom teeth, implant placement, and bone grafting among the more common ones. The distinguishing feature is generally that tissue is opened and closed as part of the procedure, rather than treated at the surface.
Prosthetic dentistry is the branch concerned with replacing missing teeth and restoring damaged ones — dentures, bridges, crowns, and implant-supported restorations all sit within this area, chosen based on how much natural tooth and bone remain.
A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been cleaned out, most often using tooth-coloured composite resin that is shaped and bonded to blend with the surrounding tooth. It is usually completed in a single appointment and is one of the most routine restorative procedures in dentistry.
Tooth Decay Treatment is also among the treatments offered here, and the practice can explain what it involves and whether it fits your situation at a consultation.
General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work. I had to go for an emergency while I was in Charlotte for work. If I could give this place 10 stars I would Nice clean and open facility, the staff from the front desk to the dentist were so friendly, helpful and just absolutely amazing. My procedure should have been somewhat painful but it wasn’t at all-and the chairs heat up and massage so that relieved a lot of anxiety for me. I always say the dentist is the last place I want to go to-but not anymore. I’ll drive 2 hours from my house to go here from now on. They also do numerous procedures where you don’t have to go to a specialty dentist-they do just about everything. I never in my life thought I’d be praising a dental office-but here I am :) They are EXCEPTIONAL
Dr. Engel, Diamond, Tiffany, and the entire staff are amazing. They take great care to make sure you are comfortable and pain free. The work is exceptional. I travel 2+ hours to get to the office and it is completely worth it!
UPDATE. 06/24 WELL! The day Dr. Tj Habashi quit along with the blessed office manager Candace, the whole dental practice fell apart as did the Roman Empire. Dr. Engels wife Tiffanie took over. The most miserable woman on the planet. It's very sad. What was once what I described in my former review as "the dental Shangri La" is now the dungeon of hell. I have been very ill. My BP has been running 200/120. THIS is hypertensive critical and death defining. I asked Tiffanie to please provide me with my medical records with attatched afadavit to authenticate them for legal reasons and her reply was, "that's not my job and I'm busy". She was rude, belligerent and unkind actually sub human. Since Engel Dental Institute is not a corporation and has no medical records custodian it is the responsibility of the doctor in charge or the office manager. Since Tiffanie is Engels wife she holds herself up on a pedestal and not subject to anything she does not want to do. Not even to save a life. So as the court suggests that I bypass her and Subpoena Dr. Engel and hold him accountable and file a formal complaint with the North Carolina dental board. Dr. Engel has no choice but to comply with the court. If he does not he will be held in contempt and face jail time with hefty monetary fines. Doctors believe they are above the law and don't have to abide with anything. Wrong! This time that will not happen. Please beware of this medical practice and if u were a satisfied client you will be putting yourself in a dangerous scenario. Consider going elsewhere. What was once a place of hope is now a place of sorrow. Beth Locascio Dr. Habishi is blessed angel here on planet earth. It' like entering dental "Shangri - la"! Where do I begin.? As a retired Healthcare professional raised in NYC my standards are quite high. From the moment you enter this high tech amazing dental center you are blown away. Not only is it a dental facility but it's a teaching program for Doctors who want to obtain a higher level of education and learn the newest and most sophisticated dental medical procedures. The office staff are extremely professional but yet friendly and welcoming. The facility is spotless and shines. They truly love what they are doing. They have compassion and understand your needs and work with u and your situation including finances and life situations. They make it affordable and go out of their way to pay it forward for those who cannot afford treatment elsewhere. They do this by using the tuition they receive by the Doctors in their educational programs to help pay for patients who are in financial hardship. They are doing this for me. I have been to many Oral Surgeons as I have serious and life altering issues and could not afford any treatment. I now will have the treatment I so desperately need and look forward to being healthy again. I cannot say enough about Engeldental Center. I would like to thank Candace for everything she has done for me as she has made it possible for me to get well. Many don't realize how important oral health is. It is so important in sustaining health and well-being being and having homeostasis and complete balance. Dr. Habishi is incredible and top notch. I just can't say enough. I highly recommend this dental center. I live in Asheville and I drive 130 miles to come here. It's worth every mile. The Universe is smiling down on this center. This is how the world should be. Blessings Sent. Amen Beth L.
I want to thank Dr. Engel, Tiffany, “Z” and the entire professional team at Engel Dentistry. Yesterday, I had my first surgery for implants and an old root canal that was causing problems that I didn’t even feel or know about despite routine dental visits at previous practices. Their technology is awesome and pick that up on my initial consultation. I am pleased with the cost break down at an affordable price to benefit my current smile and long term health. I was under partial sedation during the surgery so no pain but was aware of what was happening. This option was a great relief and comfort to me. I have taken my prescribed pain medication and antibiotics as directed and adjusting to having my temporary top arch well. I have minor swelling, which I was advised about in advance and will continue to manage by icing and elevating my head at night. Choosing the right implant center was long and hard but when I saw and heard Dr Engel’s presentation on social media, I suspected that I found the right specialist. After my initial consultation, my husband and I agreed that I had. I could not be happier with my choice and the services I received up to, during and after my surgery. So much stress has been relieved knowing that both my topical and deep dental issues were finally being addressed. I am pleased with the temporary implant and know I will be even more pleased with the customized final implant after the required gum healing! Dr. Engel and team are a true blessing and answer to prayer.
The best dental experience I've ever had! I'm really happy with my decision to go with Engel Dental Center. I put off going to a dentist for years until it became necessary to have matters addressed. Dr. Engel, Amy, Diamond and "Z" made sure I ended up with the results I wanted. Thanks again!
I recently began my dental implant journey with Engel Dental Center, starting on March 21st with top arch extractions and a temporary denture. I’ll admit, I was very skeptical about having a denture instead of immediate implants—but the lab did an incredible job. Once the swelling went down, the fit has been impressively close, with only minor adjustments needed. This past Sunday, I developed an infection in my lower arch, and the pain was almost unbearable. I held out knowing I had a follow-up appointment scheduled for Wednesday with Dr. Todd Engel, expecting I’d receive antibiotics then. What happened instead meant even more. Dr. Engel immediately recognized how much pain I was in and stopped everything to take care of me. I have severe dental anxiety, and facing treatment without medication felt overwhelming—but he made me feel completely at ease. His compassion and genuine concern brought me to tears—and, to my surprise, he even teared up with me. That level of empathy speaks volumes about who he is and the kind of practice he runs. If you have any fear of going to the dentist, Dr. Engel is someone you can truly trust. I look forward to the next few months of my dental implant journey with Dr. Engel.
The office is very nice and extremely patient friendly, including charging docks and work areas. The staff are all very professional and offer a higher level of expertise than you see at just any dentist office. They spent all the time I needed working through my goals and what would need to take place. You feel as if you are in good hands from start to finish and they ensure you know you can reach back out with any concerns. Very reassuring! Zarrie took all the time I needed explaining and preparing for my procedures, Candace helped with all my concerns about my treatment timeline, Cathryn helped me schedule my appointment and was there to greet me at the appointment as well and especially Dr. Engel, the whole team were all Top Notch!!👌🏼👌🏼
I had an excellent experience from start to finish. Nyah at the front desk was welcoming, organized, and made check-in and scheduling effortless. Makoya, the dental assistant, was incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. Candice, the treatment coordinator, was outstanding—she took the time to clearly explain my treatment options, answered all my questions, and made the entire process feel stress-free and manageable. I also want to share how meaningful my experience was with Dr. Engel. He didn’t know that I had been struggling with medically induced depression following a surgery, or that I was feeling very low and unimportant. Yet he took the time to sit down with me, look me in the eyes, and patiently answer every question I had. In that moment, he made me feel like the most important person in the room. His compassion, presence, and encouragement helped me remember that I deserve to feel good about myself. Together, we put a thoughtful plan in place to get my smile back—and he reminded me that there’s something powerful about smiling: when you do, it’s almost impossible not to feel good. This office delivers not just exceptional dental care, but genuine human care. I’m truly grateful and highly recommend them.
Amy assisted Dr. Engel today during my implant placement & she was nothing short of amazing. She made me feel so comfortable. We had the best time together. Amy & Dr. Engel were great. It was a quick & painless procedure.. I recommend .. 10 out of 10 I also would like to note that Catheryn at the front desk has been so kind to me! She has been thorough & she works in such a timely manner. She always returns my calls, & I can count on her to do what she says she is going to do. I love her !! Thanks .. Jess
Visit with Dr. Habashi for an implant consult," this man is so kind guys" I'm in love with him already. Not romantically so STOP IT lol. I am new to the area and I am making this my dental office. From the moment I walked in the receptionist was kind, friendly and professional. My assistant " KRIS" also the BOMB.COM She was extra kind, professional, and made me feel very relaxed. She is the first reason I choose Engel Institute and the REAL DEAL IS DR. HABASHI. He is an angel. You have to come meet them for yourselves. They take really good care of you here, I am very pleased. Clean establishment, a huge plus, efficient and no long waiting. Thank You so much for a wonderful first dental visit in your office Engel Institute.
0 stars.Dr. Habashi performed numerous procedures including failed implants, abutments, failed grafts, enlarged crowns, sinus bump, failed bone widening, 4 unit bridge including hanging tooth (damage to one tooth can affect whole bridge), root canals, and extractions. I have been experiencing pressure in my right eye since the appointment with the failed implant and graft to my right upper mouth. He was testing my implants and it fell out, and he took them out and pushed grafting way up in my gums. The grafting still feels like rolled up gauzes in my gum. My gums are noticeably higher to my right and left upper mouth compared to my first visit there. (first x-rays and pictures and during treatment) There is swelling to my gum in the back of my 4 unit bridge in the front. Tooth 12 and 13 are extremely too big, and have been causing swelling, pain, pressing against my bottom teeth, and shifting to my other teeth. The swelling and enlarged crowns is very apparent in the photos attached. Tooth 12 and 13 is larger than my front teeth, and that isn’t normal. I requested a refund for them, but Candice told me that Dr. Habashi refuses to refund me. I informed them in writing and verbally about my concerns at the time. Dr. Habashi only gave me a partial refund. Candice made a non therapeutic comment to me about the quality of my mouth whenever I first visited there. However, that doesn’t account for the poor dental service I received, and Dr. Habashi should know his limitations. He is licensed. I wouldn’t have agreed to any of the treatment plan if I would have known about these outcomes. My teeth doesn’t look like I had over $38,000 worth of dental procedures done. I was vulnerable and wanted my smile back. This is not fair, and I feel let down.
