About Esperanza Health Center

Esperanza Health Center is a federally qualified community health center (FQHC) providing integrated health care services — including dental care — to patients in the Kensington, Hunting Park, and surrounding North Philadelphia neighborhoods from 861 E Allegheny Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19134. "Esperanza" means hope in Spanish, and the center was founded with a mission to serve the health needs of Philadelphia's Latino community and the broader underserved populations of North Philadelphia.

As a federally qualified health center, Esperanza Health Center operates on a sliding-fee scale based on household income, making dental care accessible to patients who may lack dental insurance or face financial barriers to private dental practice care. The center's dental program provides preventive and restorative services within the context of comprehensive primary care, supporting whole-patient health for the communities it serves.

Dental services at Esperanza include oral examinations, professional cleanings, radiographic imaging, composite fillings for cavity treatment, and extractions when necessary. The integrated care model means dental patients benefit from care coordination with primary care, behavioral health, and other services available through the Esperanza system. Staff serve patients in both English and Spanish, reflecting the linguistic needs of the communities served along Allegheny Avenue.

East Allegheny Avenue in Kensington is served by SEPTA bus routes and is within the catchment area of the Market-Frankford Line at Allegheny station, making Esperanza Health Center accessible by public transit from across North Philadelphia. Esperanza Health Center is a mission-driven community dental resource for patients in Kensington and North Philadelphia who need accessible, affordable dental care delivered with cultural and linguistic competency.

No, this place is truly a place where you have to come prepared to stay all day. They give you an appointment for one hour and they don't come to see you until three hours later. I get frustrated every time I have to come to that place. Sometimes I don't really want to go because knowing I have to stay all day makes me think it's better not to go.

Great place for the family. This is a medical clinic and accepts Medicaid and Medicare. they have a fitness gym first month free and then $20 per month thereafter. They have doctors here set to a wellness checkup and also prescribe medications which can be picked up in the same facility. If you're on Suboxone you can have your doctor prescribed hair and pick it up in their pharmacy. They all seven Cafe see if you're hungry or thirsty you can sit and relax for a few minutes. And you don't have to be Hispanic to be a patient. This facility serves pediatrics adults and seniors. When you come in please bring your ID and your medical card.

I've been a patient for about a year and I don't have health insurance unfortunately but they make it possible for me to get my meds and support my recovery in a way that is not just a job for them. From the doctors to the nurses and everyone in between treat me with such kindness and respect. Id recommend this place to anyone who is really looking to stay sober and want more than just a prescription. I've been alot of places and this is the best place I've ever been. Thank you guys so much!!! M.w.

Although located in a very unpleasant area they have free parking garage & access to building without having to interact with anything or one from surrounding environment which is great. The treatment & employees,Doctors,Nurses actually ALL employees of Esperanza have been extremely knowledgeable, polite, caring & genuine in the care I have received here. I recommend them to everyone & never want to have to see another Dr. Outside of this facility. They have a pharmacy, phlebotomy lab,and dental all in 1 building plus a full gym that is a free perk to certain insurance carriers. And they are Christian based as well. I'm so thankful for finding Esperanza and the dedication they show to providing every patient care with dignity & respect regardless of financial or health background truly shows in their actions & attitudes. Wish I had found them years ago.
