About Expertise Dental by Dr. Amanda Seay

Turn off Highway 17 onto Park West Boulevard, take the second right, and Salterbeck Street opens into the small office cluster at the front of the Park West community. That is where Expertise Dental keeps its suite, and the address tells you who it is built for: the northern half of Mount Pleasant, meaning Park West, Carolina Park, Rivertowne and Dunes West, plus the families already driving these roads for Charles Pinckney Elementary and Cario Middle. From Awendaw or the Isle of Palms it is a straightforward run down 17. From downtown Charleston or West Ashley, be realistic. You are crossing the Ravenel Bridge and then heading well north, which makes this a destination practice for peninsula patients rather than a convenient one.

The clinical center of gravity here is cosmetic and restorative dentistry, supported by implants, Invisalign, sedation, TMJ and airway assessment, and same-day treatment. Dr. Amanda Seay and Dr. Adamo Notarantonio both hold Accredited Fellowship with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and Dr. Tony Mennito and Dr. Melissa Minger Swanson round out the group. The practice also runs ceramic fabrication in-house, which changes how a crown appointment actually works. Instead of putty impressions, a temporary crown and a two-week wait for an outside lab, the prepared tooth is scanned digitally, the restoration is designed on screen and milled on site, then bonded the same day. Losing the temporary stage removes the most common source of trouble between visits, since temporaries are what come loose, leak and leave a tooth sensitive. It is not universal, though. A tooth broken below the gumline, or one that needs a root canal or gum healing first, still takes a staged approach across two or more appointments.

The office runs a four-day week, Monday through Thursday from 8.30am to 4pm, closed Friday and weekends. That is a real constraint if your own schedule is inflexible, and worth checking against your calendar before you commit to a multi-visit cosmetic plan. Set against it, the depth of the team means a complex case does not have to be referred out mid-treatment.

A cosmetic and restorative practice on Salterbeck Street at the entrance to Park West, north Mount Pleasant. Two of its dentists hold Accredited Fellowship with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and an in-house ceramics lab allows many crowns and veneers to be designed and bonded in a single visit. Implants, Invisalign, sedation and TMJ care are handled in the same office. Open Monday through Thursday only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Park West office easy to reach from downtown Charleston?
It is a real drive rather than a quick errand. From the peninsula you cross the Ravenel Bridge and continue north on Highway 17, past the Isle of Palms Connector, then turn onto Park West Boulevard and take the second right onto Salterbeck Street. Figure twenty-five to thirty-five minutes depending on traffic. From Carolina Park, Rivertowne or Dunes West it is under ten.
What does Accredited Fellowship with the AACD actually mean?
Accreditation through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry is earned by submitting finished clinical cases that are photographed, documented and judged anonymously by examiners against written criteria, alongside written and oral examinations. Fellowship sits above accreditation, and relatively few dentists worldwide hold it. Two dentists here carry that credential. Treat it as evidence of documented cosmetic casework rather than a guarantee about any individual result.
Can I get a crown in a single visit?
Often, yes. Ceramic fabrication happens in-house, so a digital scan of the prepared tooth can be turned into a finished crown while you wait rather than being sent to an outside lab with a temporary covering the gap. Not every tooth qualifies. Teeth broken below the gumline, or ones needing a root canal or gum healing beforehand, still require a staged plan across two or more appointments.

After dealing with several complex dental issues for over four years, I felt overwhelmed and stuck. Coordinating care across multiple providers felt overwhelming, and I struggled to find someone with the right combination of advanced training and experience who could truly help. When I first came across Expertise Dental, I was nervous just making that initial phone call. But from the very first conversation with Jenna at the front desk, I felt genuinely heard and supported. She was patient, kind, and clearly understood exactly what I was describing — something that had been missing in previous calls. What stood out immediately is that Expertise Dental is a true team of skilled dentists with different specialties who work together to create a comprehensive plan. After following their Instagram for a while and seeing their commitment to ongoing learning and advanced training, it built trust in their expertise. My first consultation brought such a deep sense of relief. Joyce made me feel completely at ease with her clear explanations and caring manner. Dr. Melissa Minger Swanson, who is handling my case, has a gentle, thoughtful approach that truly touched me — she combines real skill with such kindness. Every single team member I’ve interacted with — from Randi, who made the photos such a breeze, to Mandi, who’s been so helpful with questions and billing —each member has been professional, patient, and detail-oriented. The entire office runs smoothly -it’s clear a tremendous amount of thoughtful care and hard work has gone into building this practice. I’m so grateful to Dr. Amanda Seay for creating this collaborative, high-level environment and to Dr. Swanson for the confidence I now have moving forward with my treatment. I'm really looking forward to seeing the comprehensive plan Dr. Melissa Minger- Swanson and her team develop for me and continuing this journey with them. Update** Just completed the second visit to Expertise Dental, and they continue to exceed every expectation. This is a practice built on deep roots of knowledge. Dr. Swanson deeply studies each patient and crafts a plan with genuine care. I have a misaligned bite, which has been affecting my breathing and sleep. Dr. Swanson designed for me a custom Kois Deprogrammer device- which has already boosted the quality of my life via significantly deeper nose breathing and sleep. Looking forward to the next steps!

Always a good experience with Randy!! I have back issues and she ensures that I am comfortable in the chair. She will work as quickly as possible and angle the chair so there is little pressure on my back. She also provides a warming neck wrap. To be able to come home from the dentist and not be in severe back pain is a gift and speaks volumes. Thank you Randy!! The entire practice is wonderful!
