About Eye Street Dental Center
Based on I Street Northwest in the Northwest Washington area of Washington, District of Columbia, Eye Street Dental Center is a dental practice serving the area. General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. Everyone here is thoughtful, gentle, and helpful. They really create a comfortable experience and that is a huge priority for me with dentists. I highly recommend!

This place was a terrible experience. So much so that I am going to have to call my insurance to get this visit off my record so I can get an actual cleaning. If you're not going to read the rest, it boils down to these reasons: (None of this is hyperbolic. Trust me, I wish it was) 1. 8 minute speed-cleaning (yes, it was actually that long) 2. 40+ minute wait AFTER my scheduled time 3. Unhygienic 4. Doctor was rude 5. Difficult to schedule Most importantly, I waited over 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment to be seen -- even though there was no one else currently being seen and there were 3 doctors. What they were doing? No idea. But it was chaotic. This was concerning: I did my X-Ray while seated in the chair and the little plastic bit fell out of my mouth and landed on my shoulder touching the back seat of the dentist chair -- the young lady proceeded to PUT IT BACK IN MY MOUTH after touching the chair where I don't even know how many sweaty patients sat. Gross. The dentist came in after and performed an 8 minute - speed cleaning. It was the fastest and most painful cleaning I've had. I can expect and handle some discomfort - even pain - but this doctor (natalie?) was trying to set a record for how fast she could clean the teeth. At one point after she did the suction with the motorized cleaner, I was sitting there with blood in my mouth while she put the "polish" on the brush, and she did not even clean the blood out. That is always commonplace to do. Gross. She also did not even do the scraping of the front of the teeth where you scrape the plaque off - so she skipped a step. When she was spraying (and I mean spraying literally) the water, it came out as an aerosol first, and then it quite literally sprayed from my mouth all over my face, never once did she offer me a tissue or anything to clean it up. My face was covered with my own saliva (I promise I'm not being dramatic this is true). She told me she wanted to do a deep cleaning and I said oh, does my insurance cover... she continued to speed clean my teeth... she said we have to do a pre-auth form and I said oh, I think i'm okay thank you (At this point, I knew I would NOT be coming back here) and she was surprised and asked why and took her mask off, and I said I just don't know I have to look at my schedule and things, she said well, we have to get the pre-auth done so. I said yeah, Im okay thanks! And then I go out and shes telling the front desk person about the pre-auth and I said "Oh sorry, I didn't want to do that" She got snippy and said "I have to tell her what I told you.." Didn't seem like that was the case so I am going to call my insurance just in case to make sure they didn't submit any forms. Scheduling, I called and scheduled my appointment over a week ago for Friday, they called me at the end of the day yesterday saying the doctors are all going to be out so they have only today as available - whatever, I confirmed and readjusted my work schedule. The second you walk into the room it's WARM - the front desk lady had her space heater on and it made an already not super nice office feel even worse. Something about gums, saliva, and procedures with a warm, stuffy environment is very off putting, and off putting it was. It should be crisp. On top of it being uncomfortably warm, according to the CDC and NIH, it is HIGHLY recommended that an air purifier be placed in the dentistry rooms to kill bacteria. There were none in the room.** (Use HEPA systems to enhance air cleaning (especially in higher risk areas such as a medical office or areas frequently inhabited by people with a higher likelihood of having a respiratory disease and/or an increased risk of getting a respiratory disease -Centers for Disease Control) If you made it to the end, please know that I am not being overly dramatic. This is what I experienced. I don't suggest you experience it yourself.
Always making the dental experience as painless as possible! Kind, organized, helpful. Highly recommend!
Eye Street Dental is great! I’ve been coming here for about 8 years and the staff is always extremely kind and welcoming. They have been able to get me in for last minute appointments and are great with sending out 6 month reminders for cleanings. I always recommend Eye Street Dental to anyone looking for a dentist within DC!
Dr. Amber Channer is song great if I had her as a dentist a decade ago I would’ve decided to become one myself. The entire team feels like one big happy and healthy family. You can feel the love when you walk-in. have had the best experience at the dental office! My entire life I have been afraid of the dental office. Anxious and afraid that the wrong care will be provided since childhood. Now I am comfortable and trusting of my dentist, dental assistant and receptionist. This is the most caring dentist I have had in my 37 years of life. Dr. Amber Channer and them team listens with an open heart and provided excellent dental care. There are no long waits, and I have gotten 3 appointments within 2 weeks! 10/10 I love it here!
I went for fillings and the new young doctor did so terrible I had to get doctor O to redo them and his attitude was sooo bad because the new young dentist left holes in my teeth that food was stuck in. I had to get stuck about 5 times and the assistant in the room stud the tube too far down my throat chocking me. Terrifying experience. I don’t recommend this place AT ALL. Plus he marked 4 wisdom teeth for my oral surgeon but I only have 3!!!!
Front desk receptionist was pretty aggressive and rude. However the dentist was very nice. Unfortunately had to cancel my follow up appointment because of how aggressive she was.
i just had my implants with Dr.O and my daughter with her braces With Dr Alejo, their hands are immaculate , they will listen to you and respect your dental decision before they will do the procedure. Plus they do provide a good payment plan to great options that is truly affordable for everyone . We support dental health is tantamount to longetivity of our lives.
