About Family Dental Care of Chicago

Based on West Fullerton Avenue in the Hermosa area of Chicago, Illinois, Family Dental Care of Chicago is a dental practice serving the area. Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. Can sedation help with dental phobia?
It is one of the main reasons people use it. For patients who have avoided treatment for years, sedation often makes the first appointment possible, and some become more comfortable with routine care afterward.
Why do dentists take X-rays?
Decay between teeth and problems below the gumline are invisible to the naked eye, so X-rays are what reveal them. Modern digital images use a low dose and are taken only when clinically justified.

Started coming here a couple of years ago. I had anxiety going to the dentist for years which resulted in me not taking the best care of myself. I communicated that and Dr. Beltran was incredibly patient, kind, and communicative. The entire office staff is helpful, welcoming, and I’m so excited as I see the progress of my new smile. I’m glad I chose to come here, as long as they’re here it will be the only place I go for all of my dental needs. I can’t tell enough of my friends about how great they are!

Myself and my significant other had deep cleanings and filling done. The staff were super friendly and very clear on any additional charges / what needed to be done. Additionally, the staff treated each other with respect and had good relationships. They are also on time and get things done quickly. We will be back!

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Beltran. She is kind, warm, and highly professional. She takes the time to explain everything honestly and clearly, which really helps ease my jitters and makes me feel comfortable during every visit. The assistants are sweet and so enlightening. They too are well educated in their field and are passionate about helping patients understand procedure and care. I finally have a loving dentist who truly understands and helps me overcome my fear, which means so much to me. My whole family now goes to her—my kids and my husband included—and we all absolutely love her. I highly recommend Dr. Beltran to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy dentist. I am grateful for Dr. Beltran and her entire team. They are God sent from heaven! Look no further!

Very friendly staff and they are bilingual (Spanish)! I’ve recommended them to my family members and they have been very pleased with the quality of the service. For someone who doesn’t really like to go to the dentist, I was very impressed by Dr. Beltran’s gentle manner.

A friendly & comfortable experience all around! I love that they take care of everything from insurance to putting together plans for you. & even better that everything can happen on site. I’m a single working mom so it helped that I can get everything done in one visit. My 11 year old hates going to the dentist & he was skipping out afterwards- it was that easy & pleasant of an experience! We will be back in the new year. Thank you to everyone from the front desk to the assistants & the doctor!
