About Family Dental Care

Family Dental Care is a general dental practice on South State Street in South Salt Lake, seeing patients across the range of ages under one roof rather than splitting adults and children into separate specialties. That matters if you're booking for more than one person — a parent's cleaning and a teenager's cavity check can go on the same visit. The clinic handles both routine maintenance and the kind of dental problem that doesn't wait for an appointment slot, from a chipped tooth to an ache that's been ignored too long.

The routine list covers cleanings, fillings for decay, and extractions when a tooth is too far gone to save. For anything more structural, they place crowns — caps that rebuild a damaged tooth's shape — and bridges, a fixed piece that fills a gap using neighboring teeth as anchors. Root canal treatment removes infected tissue from inside a tooth so it can stay in your mouth, and gum disease treatment addresses the inflammation around teeth before it reaches the bone. Teeth whitening and cosmetic dentistry adjust color and shape rather than function. What often connects a filling appointment to a crown appointment is the same finding — tooth decay caught late enough that a filling alone won't hold.

If you're dealing with a toothache that showed up without warning, this is a practice built to see routine and urgent cases side by side, so an emergency visit doesn't mean starting over with a new provider.

Cost depends on what an exam turns up — a cleaning and a filling sit at a different price point than a bridge or a course of root canal treatment, and affordable dental care here means pricing scaled to the problem rather than one flat number. Emergency dentistry sits alongside the scheduled work, worth knowing if a bad week brings both a planned crown and an unplanned crack on the same day. For a household in South Salt Lake weighing a nearby dentist against a longer drive across town, the question is simpler than it sounds: does this problem fit inside what one practice already handles routinely.

Family Dental Care is a general dentist on South State Street in South Salt Lake, Utah, offering cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, gum disease and tooth decay treatment, whitening, and emergency and affordable dental care for all ages.

Can a filling fall out?
Yes, and it is reasonably common, usually from decay developing underneath, from chewing something hard, or simply from age. A lost filling leaves the tooth exposed, so it should be looked at before the cavity gets deeper.
How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
Every six months suits most people, which is why check-ups tend to be scheduled that way. If you have gum disease, smoke, or are prone to a heavy build-up of tartar, a dentist may recommend coming in every three or four months instead.
What is the difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning?
A regular cleaning removes plaque and tartar from the tooth surface at and just above the gumline. A deep cleaning, or scaling and root planing, goes beneath the gumline to clean the root surfaces, and is recommended when gum disease has created pockets around the teeth.

I had such a great experience here! (Says a lot for a dental office) The front desk, hygienist and dentist were all very friendly and care about you. I had to get a cavity filled and was nervous but Dr. Tanner walked me through it and said if I had any discomfort to let him know. He talked me through each step as he did it. Great overall experience and affordable!
