Family Dentist is located at 276 Smith Street in the Smith Hill neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island — an affordable family dental practice in one of the city's civic center neighborhoods, situated just north of the Rhode Island State House and the Statehouse grounds. Smith Hill is a working-class and historically diverse Providence neighborhood bounded by North Main Street, Charles Street, and the Moshassuck River, home to long-established immigrant communities alongside newer residents who have settled around the neighborhood's affordable housing stock. Smith Street is one of the main commercial arteries in this part of the city, carrying traffic between the Capitol district and the residential neighborhoods of Smith Hill and beyond.
Family Dentist provides affordable family dental care for patients of all ages across Smith Hill and the surrounding Providence neighborhoods. The practice's services span the preventive and restorative care most families require: comprehensive examinations, professional cleanings, dental radiographs, tooth-colored fillings for decayed teeth, and crown restorations for damaged enamel. The explicitly affordable framing and family-oriented scope make the practice accessible to the working-class and multi-generational immigrant households that represent a significant share of Smith Hill's population — communities that may face cost or access barriers at higher-priced private practices.
Smith Hill's proximity to the Rhode Island State House and the surrounding government and nonprofit employment cluster gives the area a mixed patient base of neighborhood residents and downtown-adjacent workers who might find the Smith Street location convenient for appointments during or near work hours. Specialist dental services — orthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics — are accessible at dedicated providers in the Providence metro area, and the neighborhood's public transit connections via RIPTA make the practice accessible to car-free patients.
For Smith Hill residents and Providence families seeking affordable general dental care on Smith Street, Family Dentist provides accessible community dentistry in this civically central Providence neighborhood.

I have been going there for 30 plus years. Always amazing and kind. They always go above and beyond. Just recently I had cosmetic work done it came out perfect. They are highly recommended. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Waste of time. They do not respect your appointment. They made a mistake with one appointment sure. We are human. Mistakes happen. But to do it again, because a Sales Rep WITHOUT an appointment showed up, meanwhile I’m sitting in the chair for 30 minutes while I’m on my lunch break from work. And the dental assistant made it seem like it was my fault when I confronted her about it she goes that’s not what I was trying to say. How about you respect your patient’s time, because like how they are at work, we have jobs too and that’s why we make an appointment and not just show up randomly. I truly respect healthcare workers because they are crucial and do important work but respect goes both ways.
Awful customer service. I haven’t been in about a year but I don’t remember it being that great to begin with. However, I just called to make an appointment. I tried calling at 5 right when I got out of work and I’m pretty sure someone picked up and didn’t say anything and just let the phone sit there. So after a minute I hung up. I called back after I got home from work at 5:45 and they close at 6. A women picked up, I told her I’d like to make an appointment, and she said ok no problem please hold. I was on hold for about 20 minutes, I heard her pick the phone back up while she was talking to someone else and then just HANG UP. Didn’t get a call back or anything. So, I will go to a new dentist now! Thanks for nothing
I didn't visit the place but I just called apart from the fact that I had to call more than 4 times for them to take the call and for the simple fact that I asked if I didn't speak Spanish (because my English is not good) they hung up on me. How much lack of education and asked if they didn't have someone who spoke Spanish and they said no when here everywhere they have an interpreter, what a disgusting service.
Dr. Wagner is a great dentist and he makes it less stressful to see the dentist. The Dr. Wagner and his staff are very Professional, Efficient, skilled as well as accommodating and always friendly. I highly recommend them.
