About Farmington Avenue Dental Care
Based on Farmington Avenue in the West End area of Hartford, Connecticut, Farmington Avenue Dental Care is a dental practice serving the area. General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. Courteous friendly at the reception desk and my dental hygienist is amazing. Very thorough and explains everything I need to do to improve my teeth and gums. Thank you
Everybody was very professional and friendly. I will definitely be back!
Went in thinking my teeth were perfectly fine. Apparently, I was wrong. My hygienist Janelle was awesome—friendly, professional, extremely thorough, and somehow able to politely explain that brushing my teeth twice a day does not make me a dental overachiever. She cleaned my teeth so well I’m pretty sure they’re a different shade now. She also asked how often I floss, which was a fun little opportunity for both of us to pretend I was going to answer honestly. Great experience, zero judgment… or at least she hid it extremely well. 10/10. Teeth feel brand new. Ego slightly damaged. Already scheduled my next cleaning.
Very pleased with the results and outcome will recommend friends and family

All my dental needs are met with compassion and professionalism.
Very nice and clean office. Location has on site parking. The staff is very nice and friendly. Shantelle my dental hygienist is very good at what she does. She takes her time and makes sure that you get a great cleaning everytime. She cares for her patients. I definitely recommend this place.
Farmington Avenue Dental is hands down the best dental office in the Hartford County. Very professional and caring . My 10 year old daughter loves to go to dentist office.
I love them. I went to them back in 2021 when they accepted Medicaid insurance now they don't, and I really wanted them to do the bridge on my mouth. So now that I get dental coverage from my job they are the first place I made an appointment for. Everyone is so friendly and they explain everything to you in simple English so u understand what you are getting down what needs to be done. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and doesn't make u feel embarrassed on the condition of ur mouth. I highly recommend them.
