About First Dental

First Dental operates on Somerville Avenue in the Ward Two area of Somerville, Massachusetts. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. Use this page to find contact information for First Dental and to see its full range of services before getting in touch.

Very rough dentists. I was in pain for nearly a week due to a improper crown installation causing me to be unable to even drink water without pain. They frequently will just inject you and get to drilling giving you no time for the medicine to start working. Very rude and overwhelming staff at the front desk. Very poor English skills and typically rude. I've been called 6 times in one day just to make sure I'm going to be at my regular appointment. The older owner/dentist is great however and helped me. Prices are high even compared to the area. It was 1,000 for 5 fillings. I'll have the rest of my dental work done elsewhere.

I had an outstanding experience at this dental office from start to finish. The customer service at the front desk was exceptional—Rita and Rosana were welcoming, friendly, and professional, and they made scheduling easy, answered all of my questions, and made me feel comfortable the moment I walked through the door! The dental team was equally impressive. The dentist, Dr. Sing was knowledgeable, thorough, and took the time to explain everything clearly. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a professional, caring, and customer-focused dental team!

Dr.Ghobbeh is the best he is very understanding and makes you feel very comfortable. He is easy and very gentle. If you looking for any type of procedure go to him. Every one at the clinic is very professional and on point with covid-19 rules and regulations. Not a better place out there. 2026 still here the best place ever very professional 👏

Love Somerville First Dental! I was going there every 6 months starting 2021 until 2026 (left the East Coast). Rita at the front desk was so helpful, and the dental staff were great! Highly recommend!

I’ve been to many a dentist and Dr Prabhdeep Singh has by far been the best. He’s caring and compassionate. I’ll follow him anywhere. The environment at this office and emaculant. The woman at the front desk are fanominal. It’s a pleasure to visit with them.👏

I am very pleased, repeatedly, and impressed by the quality of care I receive in this dental office. The office staff are warm, friendly, welcoming, patient and kind. Every hygienist and dentist who has worked on my teeth over the years has been very reassuring, kind, professional and explains things well. I recommend this First Dental highly for the best quality care.

I had a root canal treatment done with Dr. Ghobbeh and the experience was much better than I expected. They were very professional, gentle, and took the time to explain each step of the procedure, which really helped ease my anxiety. The procedure itself was smooth and virtually painless, and I felt well cared for the entire time. The office was clean, organized, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Dr. Ghobbeh to anyone needing dental care.

I've been a patient here for four years, and I'm writing this review because the experience has noticeably declined — to the point where I won't be returning. The front desk staff has developed an attitude that feels dismissive and condescending. When the dentist correctly mentioned that my insurance would require a pre-authorization for a deep cleaning, the front desk flatly contradicted them and told me I just needed to pay my $500 portion of a $1,700 procedure — no further explanation, no real engagement. That kind of misinformation, delivered with that tone, is not what I expect from a practice I've trusted. On the clinical side: I'm a diligent patient. I come in every six months, get X-rays every visit, and haven't had a cavity as an adult. This visit, the dentist recommended replacing two fillings because they were "old and loosening" — something no dentist has ever flagged before. I have no way to verify whether this was a legitimate clinical finding or upselling, but combined with everything else, it didn't inspire confidence. Finally, the assistant during my cleaning was noticeably undertrained. My face was soaking wet throughout the procedure — a basic hygiene issue that should not happen. This place used to be good. It's not anymore. Patients who've been loyal for years deserve better than this.
