About Fishman Pediatric Dentistry Jacksonville Beach

Based on Jacksonville Drive in the Beaches area of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Fishman Pediatric Dentistry Jacksonville Beach is a dental practice serving the area. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward. Are dental X-rays safe for children?
Modern digital X-rays use a very low dose and are taken only when there is a clinical reason. They show decay between teeth and problems with developing adult teeth that cannot be seen by looking.
How do I stop my child getting cavities?
Brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, supervising until they have the dexterity to do it properly, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear during the day. Frequency of sugar matters more than the total amount.
Why do dentists take X-rays?
Decay between teeth and problems below the gumline are invisible to the naked eye, so X-rays are what reveal them. Modern digital images use a low dose and are taken only when clinically justified.

The team here was wonderful across the board- warm and helpful with scheduling, a fun waiting room, and of course most importantly a staff who was patient, kind, and supportive with a very hesitant toddler (and baby). Both kids left with clean teeth, “prizes” and a happy mom. We’ll be back.

We had such a great experience today at Dr. Fisman’s office. Ms. Felicia and Dr. Brandon were so caring, nurturing, and professional for my daughter’s first dentist appointment. They really helped put her at ease and were so kind to us while quickly and efficiently doing the work they needed to do in her mouth. We really appreciated them and highly recommend to all.

This place is a joyful, fun and safe place to bring your children for dental care. The receptionist, Hannah knew my child’s name upon arrival even with this being her first visit. She was kind and welcoming, and I was very impressed coming in, unable to fully take in how beautiful this location is! My baby and husband were obsessed with the impressive fish tank in the lobby. Asia saw our daughter today and was so informative and well versed I thought I had met one of the doctors! My daughter was very relaxed from the moment we entered to the time we checked out, and it was the demeanor and graciousness of the staff that made all the difference in the world. I cannot begin to speak enough on Dr. Ross’ effortless transition into meeting our daughter and making her comfortable enough that she was all smiles the whole time. He gave us practical, real world advice and made us feel so welcome. Absolutely wonderful doctor! Tanya checked us out and scheduled our next appointment. She was funny, bright and refreshing. We were so pleased with our entire visit!

We had such an amazing first experience at Fischer Pediatric Dentistry! I was honestly a bit nervous bringing my son in for his very first dentist appointment, but the entire team made it such a positive and memorable visit. From the moment we walked in, Hannah greeted us with a warm, friendly smile that immediately put us at ease. Jo Ann (“Jo Jo”) was absolutely wonderful—so sweet, patient, and attentive. She took great care of my son during his cleaning and made sure he felt comfortable every step of the way before seeing Dr. Brandon Chin, who was also fantastic. I’ve never experienced this level of friendliness and care even at my own adult dentist. The environment is so welcoming, with thoughtful touches that truly help kids relax. I’m beyond happy that my son’s first dental visit turned into such a great experience—he’s actually looking forward to going back, which says everything! Most kids dread the dentist, but the staff here make it something to look forward to. All of the dentists and staff have been wonderful, and I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist!

I had a very scary experience over Christmas break, And I can’t think Dr Fishman and his team enough for the incredible care, they gave my son. We had recently learned my son had a cavity and I plan to address it after the new year. The day before Christmas Eve, my son woke up with his face swollen like a puffer fish, in obvious pain in distress -I was completely terrified. I called the on-call dentist and Dr. Fishman personally reached out to me within minutes. He asked for a photos and guided me step-by-step through what to do and ultimately recommended we go to the ER where My Son was given a dose of very strong antibiotics. Dr Fishman then squeezed him in on Christmas Eve to make sure he wasn’t in anything through the holiday. That level of commitment and compassion is something I will never forget. The front office checked in to make sure we were scheduled Dr Fishman text regularly just to see how My Son was doing. Every single person in the office is warm, kind and incredibly thoughtful. They made a frightening situation as seamless and comforting as possible. I am beyond ungrateful for Dr Fishman and his entire staff. Their dedication, empathy, and genuine care for their patients is unmatched. I would recommend them to any parent without hesitation
