I haven’t been to the dentist in probably 15 years. I had a cracked molar that was causing me extreme pain. They took x-rays and explained everything to me. Unfortunately, I needed the molar extracted. I am terrified of the dentist but they led me through step by step which helped me feel confident and not as anxious. Everyone was so kind. They made sure it wasn’t painful for me. They explained throughly what I needed done going forward. It was a really good experience for not having gone so long. Thank you!
Exceptional staff. Clean environment. Parking is always easy to find.
All the ladies were super nice, and sweet. Very organized. Clean. My orthodontist did any amazing job removing my top left wisdom tooth. Quick , precise. I feel amazing. Can't wait until my next visit when I get a whitening and teeth cleaning. I've found my dental home.
Two weeks ago, I visited this dental office for a filling and cleaning appointment that lasted less than an hour. A few days later, I began experiencing difficulty opening my jaw, and over time it became significantly worse to the point where I could barely bite down or open my mouth fully. Because of this, I scheduled an emergency appointment. During that visit, I explained my symptoms to the dental assistant and shared concerns based on both my personal experiences and broader concerns about how patients with Medicaid insurance are sometimes rushed or dismissed in healthcare settings. Rather than listening to my concerns, the assistant immediately became defensive and brought in the office manager. I explained to him that I believed something may have gone wrong during my previous visit, specifically that the Novocaine injection may have caused an issue because I had never experienced these symptoms before and was now missing work because of it. The dentist then briefly examined me and quickly stated that it was “probably trismus” and would go away on its own. No x-ray had been taken, yet they were already making assumptions and preparing to refer me to an oral surgeon. I insisted they perform an x-ray because I did not feel comfortable accepting a diagnosis without proper testing. After I continued expressing frustration, the owner entered the room. Instead of addressing my concerns, he became defensive and dismissive. I felt he was more focused on protecting the practice than listening to a patient safety concern. As I continued advocating for myself, the owner became aggressive, got directly in my face, and told me I could leave if I continued making my statements. Only after repeatedly insisting on an x-ray did they finally perform one. The x-ray revealed that I had an abscess on an impacted wisdom tooth. What concerns me most is that if I had simply accepted their original diagnosis, I would have left with an untreated infection that could have become far more serious. The dentist attempted to diagnose me without proper imaging, my concerns were repeatedly dismissed, and the owner responded aggressively when I pushed for further investigation. I will never return to this practice. No patient should have to fight this hard simply to receive proper diagnostic care and be treated with respect when raising legitimate concerns about their health.
I will say, I have been to Five Star Dentistry for a year now and I have to say this was the best decision I ever made. I had years in the past as a young adult with my trauma of getting my teeth done at Nova Dental so I abandon the routines of getting my teeth done. After years of abandonment, I knew enough was enough and wanted to find a good dentistry. I stumble upon this dental clinic last year, and the 1st visit was very comforting when I told the staff my story along with the abandonment of my teeth. The staff comfort me, and gave me that day a long-term plan of work that needs to be done on my teeth. Over the previous visits, it has been lovely. The representatives at the front desk are very nice and respectful. They are always willing to work with me payment wise even when I don't have the full payment or if there is a change to my insurance. The dental/hygienist assistants are so patient and communicative with me before and during my every procedure. I also have to thank Dr. Matera (hopefully I am spelling his name right). He is quick with my procedures, always talk to me of what is going on during my procedure and so patient. I'm so thankful for Five Star Dentistry. I never felt more confident than ever when it comes to my teeth routine at home.
Upon first impression... clean and friendly. Didn't have me wait long in waiting room. Which was great! I have a toothache, Dentist came in figured out what needed done and we set a next appointment to get an extraction done. He also told me what teeth could be saved. He listened to my concerns and answered my questions. Only thing is that they didn't extract same day but He did ask me if I wanted to go to an oral surgeon to get it pulled sooner and he did give me amoxicillin to kill infection. I got an appointment a couple a weeks from now. I would say if your pain is really bad and ur looking to get it pulled asap go to Pitt emergency but if ur looking for a good dentist would highly recommend this one! Can't wait for my next appointment and to get my oral health back on track!
I had to have a root canal and was really anxious! The dentist was amazing, so skilled, and they went out of their way to keep me comfortable. It was painless. I’m so happy that I found this dental practice, and I recommend it without reservation!
I came to Five Star with my previous dentist that has since retired. Due to their convenient location I have tried to stay with them. Unfortunately, after 2 years, I have to give up and move on. The level of care is okay. However, almost every appointment I have had has been cancelled and moved due to their inability to keep hygienists. They'll reschedule appointments 5 months later - very ridiculous when one is supposed to get two cleanings a year. If you value reliability, find another dentist.
