About Florida Facial Surgery Center

Based on North Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa, Florida, Florida Facial Surgery Center is a dental practice serving the area. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward. You can reach Florida Facial Surgery Center through this page to ask a question, check current availability, or request an appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Florida Facial Surgery Center located in Tampa?
Florida Facial Surgery Center is on North Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa, Florida (33614).
What days is Florida Facial Surgery Center open?
Florida Facial Surgery Center is open Tuesday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Florida Facial Surgery Center offer?
Listed services at Florida Facial Surgery Center include Wisdom Teeth Removal. The full list is shown on this page.
What age is best to have wisdom teeth taken out?
Late teens to early twenties is often easier, because the roots are less fully formed and bone is more forgiving, so healing tends to be quicker. Removal is still routinely done later when there is a reason for it.
Why do wisdom teeth cause problems?
They arrive last, often into a jaw with no room left, so they become impacted or come through at an angle. Partly erupted wisdom teeth are also very difficult to clean, which is why they are prone to repeated infection and decay.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

BEWARE My experience with Dr. James Gift was fine. The office on the other hand…. Problematic from the beginning. At first I thought they just lacked organization and communication skills, now I would also describe them as predatory. The first red flag was submitting my new patient documentation, they kept asking me for it even after I submitted them after I was first asked. Lack of communication and organization was the average experience with the office. Throughout the experience the only time I had my questions answered was when I was talking face-to-face with Dr. Gift. When I realized this and asked to speak with him directly on phone calls, office staff would deter me from doing so. During the consultation of my last procedure, the manager mentioned an alternative material that could be used for my last procedure and said she needed to speak with the vendor about it and would later contact me about this. The call never came. I waited and called myself, the office staff who answered said the manager had stepped out and would call me when she returned. Not only did she not call, this became a pattern for almost a month. In the middle of this, an office staff member, who wasn’t even sure what I was talking about “offered” to schedule my last procedure and charge me $900 for it, which was not in my patient plan at all. I refused and told her I wanted to speak to the manager first. Then it got to the point that an office staff member told me the manager couldn’t return my call because she had been fired (???). So bizarre. I should have made my exit then (honestly, way before then). I sent an email begging for someone to get back with me, which led to finally going through with my last procedure without that $900 charge. After my last procedure, Dr. Gift told me to schedule a follow up but I had already decided by then that I would never go back to that office again. I was relieved that I never had to deal with them again. Or so I thought. Two months later they charged me for a fee I already paid. We went back and forth. I showed my documentation which proved payment. They either avoided my emails or gave vague responses. I hit a wall so I’ve given in and paid them. Please learn from my experience and go to another dental surgeon.

Absolutely horrible experience. The manager is either completely incompetent or she deliberately avoids any semblance of responsibility and accountability at this practice. I visited for a consultation to have my wisdom teeth removed, and it was a mess from the get-go. I did forget to have my x-rays sent over beforehand, however when I offered to call my regular dentist to have them sent over the manager assured me that "it's fine, we can do the x-rays here." I felt reassured only because I mistakenly assumed that she had spoken with my insurance before hand (as that is part of her job) and, since she didn't mention the cost, that there wouldn't be one for the x-rays. Of course, I received the surprise bill later. The correct thing would have been to either inform me of the cost upfront or to offer to reschedule. The fact that she did neither tells me that she either doesn't know how to do her job or that she is deliberately lying to and stealing from patients. I'd hate to think it's the latter, but they also gave me an absurdly high quote for the procedure, claiming that they "refund" for whatever insurance pays. Unfortunately, based on the number of similar reviews I've seen for this practice saying it took weeks of calls to get anything back makes me grateful I chose not to move forward with this practice. I've been calling almost weekly since March, and every single time I've been told "the manager is in a consultation right now, she'll call you back" but I have yet to receive a call. So, again, she'd either completely unable to do her job, or she is deliberately avoiding the call over a measly $105. She also swapped my first and last name on the paperwork (it was a digital form and I entered my name correctly, which means she had to go out of her way to enter it incorrectly). When she was corrected at the appointment, she had to come back and "fix" it all of three times but it still ended up wrong on all the paperwork and follow-up emails. They only fixed it after my fourth week of calling, likely because I had to keep telling the poor receptionist to look me up by typing my name in the reverse order. To his credit, Dr. Gift seemed friendly, knowledgable, and was very respectful. He got my name right on the first try.

They don’t inform you about nothing here . I was not informed about the consultation fee before hand, I get there pay the 125 they told me it would be, I was not told it would be 188$ i was told it’s 125$ after told them I was paying out of pocket for the consulation. They call me almost two months later to tell me my insurance didn’t approve my benefits now the consultation jumps to 188$? Not sure how or for what? which I could’ve just paid before hand if they would’ve told me . Then on top of all that they don’t even call you if your benefits approve to get your teeth out they say it’s up to you to call? But let your benefits deny and they call you almost instantly to threaten with collections or pay 63$? I don’t have a problem with the money honestly but they misinform there patients about the cost of stuff . Leading the situation like this and now you have to do the run around with insurance and you know how frustrating that can be . Would not recommend getting your teeth pulled in a reasonable time .

Came here for wisdom teeth removal. Staff was patient, professional and friendly! Dr. is incredible my procedure took little time, his experience is evident in that he caused no additional trauma than what the extraction itself would, making my post op discomfort/pain minimal to none

This is only my personal experience as a low-income patient. I came to this office asking for help with an extraction. I was charged $263, but my back molar was not removed. After that, I was told the total for removing a few teeth would be around $1,800, which I simply can’t afford. I also struggle with my front teeth, so I was hoping for real guidance. Instead, I felt dismissed. When I asked Dr. James and the manager, Lisa, to please email me my receipt, I felt like I was being pushed around and sent to the front desk just because I speak Spanish. That made me feel judged and not respected. I’m sharing this because many low-income people, especially those with serious dental problems like front-tooth issues, might be going through the same thing. I hope this office improves how they treat patients who come in honestly looking for help.

Have had two of my kids have their wisdom teeth removed here. I will say the care is excellent. Dr. Gift is professional, procedures were quick, nursing staff very helpful, front desk receptionists are nice and understanding. The back office / business office staff is less than helpful. Be advised you need to pay up front based upon an estimate of what a surgery will cost, less whatever your insurance covers. This is reasonable to me -- less of a collections nightmare for the physician office. I, however, had an overpayment and was owed close to $1,000 after everything was netted out after the surgery. I literally had to call back four times over 6 weeks to get this processed. At first I was told "we only pay by check and it will be mailed to you." Next was "the check is on the physician's desk to be signed, you will get it in 5-7 business days." Next was "our office manager is out this week, we will have her call you." Never called. Check never came. Finally, after the fourth call, I was told the amount would be credited back to my card (electronically), which it was. So, either the office is trying too make additional money on the float (I finally received the refund 60 days after the date of service), or more than likely, they are hoping you just forget about the amount owed and stop calling. And please understand, the front desk staff were only the messengers -- they had to speak to their boss (presumably the office manager) each time I called. With that, I unfortunately may have to consider another office for any future oral surgery.

Just had my wisdom teeth surgery was super painless. 10/10 recommend this office for their professionalism and in also making sure I felt comfortable during my procedure. They truly try to get the best price for the clients while working with their insurance . Thank you to everyone who helped with my surgery and making sure I knew what was happening. Everyone in the front office was super helpful and sweet. Dr. Gift is super knowledgeable and takes his time to educate this patient on the procedure and also takes his time to explain medication and after-care for surgery
