About Fountains Dental Care

Fountains Dental Care provides dental care on South Alma School Road in the Ocotillo Association area of Chandler, Arizona. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.

A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Cosmetic treatment is generally the least invasive branch of dentistry, built around changing how teeth look rather than fixing something broken. Whitening and bonding sit at the lighter end; veneers and reshaping involve more planning. Most cosmetic dental insurance excludes this kind of work, since it is elective rather than medically necessary.

Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.

Dentures replace some or all of the natural teeth in a jaw with a removable appliance, custom-fitted to the mouth. A full denture replaces every tooth; a partial fills gaps where some natural teeth remain. Because the jaw bone reshapes over time, dentures typically need adjusting or remaking periodically.

Professional teeth whitening uses a peroxide-based gel, applied under supervision at a strength stronger than anything sold over the counter, to lift years of staining from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. It works on natural enamel only — existing crowns, veneers, and fillings keep whatever shade they were made in. Everyone made me feel so comfortable. They made the X-rays easy (an anxiety event for me) and I appreciate that. See you in 6 months for my next cleaning.

I went in for a 2nd opinion because a new dentist at my dentist office said I needed a crown. Dr Doh and the staff were excellent. After X-rays and a thorough examination it was determined that I in cart did not need a crown or any further work on my teeth. I’ve found myself a new dental office and have already made an appointment for my next cleaning. I could not be happier with Fountains Dental care.

Dr. Do took great care in correcting my stated problem. Made a new Cap and it fit perfectly. I highly recommend this office. I have had much dental care over the years and I would rank Fountains Dental Care with the best I have experienced.

After going to the same dentist for over 12 years, I decided to get a second opinion after being told I needed a crown on one of my back molars because of a crack that had developed from grinding my teeth while I sleep. I had also been dealing with ongoing sensitivity in a crown that was placed on the opposite side of my mouth over a year ago, so I wanted to make sure I fully understood all of my options before moving forward with another crown. I'm so glad I found Fountain Hills Dental Care. From the moment I walked in, everyone was welcoming, friendly, and professional. During my consultation, Dr. Mellum took the time to carefully review the X-rays I brought from my previous dentist and explain exactly what he was seeing. He never made me feel rushed or pressured. Instead, he walked me through my options, explained the reasoning behind each one, and recommended taking a more conservative approach with a filling rather than immediately placing a crown. He even displayed my X-rays on the screen and showed me exactly what he was looking at, which really helped me understand his thought process. The tooth had an older filling and a crack on the back of the molar that was believed to be from my nighttime teeth grinding. Based on his evaluation, Dr. Mellum felt there was still plenty of healthy tooth structure to preserve and that it made sense to start with the least invasive treatment rather than removing more healthy tooth structure than necessary. I really appreciated that philosophy because it showed me he was focused on doing what was best for my long-term dental health, not just recommending the more aggressive option. A couple of weeks later, I decided to move forward with the filling. The procedure went very smoothly, and afterward Dr. Mellum told me the crack was not that deep. Hearing that gave me even more confidence that seeking a second opinion and choosing the more conservative treatment approach was the right decision for me. I also appreciated that Dr. Mellum looked beyond just treating the tooth. Because of my TMJ and nighttime teeth grinding, he referred me to an orthodontic specialist to discuss whether braces could help address the underlying cause. I really valued that he was thinking about my long-term oral health, not just fixing the immediate issue. I also want to give a special thank you to Hannah and Yolanda, who were both wonderful dental assistants. Hannah made me feel comfortable during my initial consultation and was incredibly kind and welcoming. Yolanda assisted during my filling and was just as friendly, professional, and reassuring throughout the procedure. They both helped make what could have been a stressful experience feel easy and comfortable. After more than a decade with my previous dental office, I made the decision to switch my care to Fountain Hills Dental Care, and I couldn't be happier with that choice. I've already scheduled my future cleanings here and look forward to continuing my care with Dr. Mellum and his team. If you're looking for a dentist who truly takes the time to educate you, explain your treatment options, preserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible, and genuinely cares about your long-term oral health, I highly recommend Dr. Mellum and the entire team at Fountain Hills Dental Care.

First time here after a total mistreatment from my previous dentist after 10 years. It is stressful to find the right medical provider these days. Already the first phone conversation was welcoming and helpful. When I arrived everyone was beyond sweet and felt just right being there. The visit was very pleasant and friendly, all needed information was provided to me knowing what's ahead with other treatments and the financial part was given as well. Definitely highly recommend the place!

I have not been going to the dentist on the regular, and I was a bit nervous. But they definitely calmed me by being very receptive, gentle and explained everything to me. I felt no pain from the cleaning and the main doctor was really cool and very informative. Being from Generation X and have always had fear when I think of going to the dentist. But that fear is gone thanks to the people working at Fountain Dental Care. Oh, and also, I was in and out. No waiting around. Very efficient. I highly recommend them. Thanks guys. Mike G

Dr. Mellum and dental assistant Hannah saw me for a root reabsorption consultation. The booking process was easy and the consultation was thorough. I left feeling well-informed and with a treatment plan and estimated prices. This was my second opinion. This office has amazing patient service as well as a comfortable office.
