Every time I come to Gentle Dental at Porter Square, the staff is beyond awesome. They are friendly knowledgeable and professional. And yes gentle too lol. Leya, my hygienist, and the front desk staff are all fantastic. Chaos manager is doing a great job 😂 l highly recommend this place. Thank you so much

Avoid at all cost. Unfriendly front desk, chaotic billing, back and forth with clinic and insurance companies… what could be worse?

I had an excellent scheduled teeth cleaning with my dental hygienist Liya Zhu. She is extremely thorough, and friendly. She is part of my dental dream team from Fresh Pond Dental. The team moved to Gental Dental. It looks like a great move. Thanks. I just had a large filling on the side of a molar. Andrew Mancini (the Dental Director) also prepared my back molar for a crown. His assistant Alex used state of the art Imaging, and manufacturing equipment. They were both personable, professional, and determined to do the best job possible in saving two old teeth in the back of my mouth. And of course, they were Gentle. I just had another excellent teeth cleaning with Liya Zhu. Five star service. Great job ! Dr Mancini installed the new crown, and his assistant Alex trimmed it to fit the conditions in a back molar with two partial dentures. This is not an easy task! Everything fits well, and I am glad we took care of this potential problem. I can smile again. I just had another excellent teeth cleaning. Liya Zhu also painted the teeth with a fluoride coating. The fluoride is an annual procedure. Five star service. Great job. I just had another excellent teeth cleaning. The city was closed under snow emergency, and all of the schools were closed. However, Gentle Dental was 100% open for business. Liya wasn't available, but another Varsity Hygienist was. Kathleen Abban is excellent. She cleaned my teeth, Did a full series of X-rays, checked for gum recession, and applied fluoride. She also cleaned my partial dentures. Dr Mancini examined my teeth, and reviewed the XRays with Kathleen. Thanks to the coaching of these successful, experienced Registered Hygienists, I now floss at least once every day. Really. Everything went well. I also had a scheduled exam with Dr Mancini. They are both care about providing the best dental care available. Two of my lower front teeth were moving around. This condition has been ongoing for the past two years. I had an oral surgeon examine the problem. The bone was beyond grafting. This condition was the case with eight or nine of my other teeth. With those teeth, a quick extraction solved the immediate problem: some went quickly, and others took a long time. Dr David Goldberg is Gentle Dental's Oral Surgeon. He does great work. The two teeth were cleanly, and painlessly removed. When the novicane wore off, there was no pain. The wound healed quickly with no problems at all. This was not always the case at my previous Dentist. Dr Mancini's assistant Alex, made a mold of my upper and lower teeth. She the sent it out for an additional two teeth on my lower partial denture. I regularly go to Gentle Dental Somerville and LOVE that office. I was referred here to get a consult for oral surgery. The dentist was immediately annoyed that I did not know if they had the right type of xray on file, and then shamed me for not getting my wisdom teeth out before age 20. In the U.S. in 2026, nobody should have to explain themselves over a lack of access to care. I left feeling ashamed and embarrassed, would not recommend coming here.

My hygienist, Milano, did a thorough cleaning.and polishing. It was painless and pleasant. My smile was dazzling. Dr. Mancini took time to examine my teeth. His consultation and evaluation were not rushed and plans for procedures were explained in detail. He made me feel confident in his plan. All the staff was pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable. Honestly, it was the best experience I’ve ever had at the dentist.

Absolutely horrible experience. I had already submitted all of my information ahead of my appointment, but when I arrived they told me they didn’t have my dental insurance card. I immediately tried emailing it to them, then sat waiting for over 15 minutes while they claimed they never received it. Instead of just writing the information down (which they eventually suggested after the delay), they refused to begin any treatment until the insurance was verified — even after I explicitly said I was willing to pay out of pocket and just wanted the work done. The most frustrating part is that all of this happened after I was already seated in the dental chair. Why wasn’t this handled at check-in? Why waste my time like that? Between long delays, poor communication, and rigid, inefficient processes, I ended up walking out without being treated. This is now my second terrible experience with Gentle Dental — once in Seattle and now in Boston. It feels like a rented, corporate operation with zero regard for patients’ time and very poor front-desk coordination- can’t emphasize that part enough. I would not recommend this office to anyone.

I’ve got to say, this dental office is much better than my previous one. They did an amazing job on my root canal and crown. The doctors and assistants were all super helpful and friendly. Dr Mancini is not only a highly qualified dentist who explains the work that’s required thoroughly and patiently, he’s very kind and considerate. His dental assistant has all the same qualities. You feel like you’re in very good hands.

Fearing a cracked tooth or loose filling, I stopped in with an unexpected pain in my lower jaw. Was treated with patience and respect, even though I was a patient of another Gentle Dental location. I was seen within a few minutes, xrays taken and a thorough exam provided. Communication was excellent every step of the way. This is my new Gentle Dental location thanks to the caring and professional way my "emergency" was handled.

Very scammy place! Saw all the bad reviews, went anyway because I needed a dentist just for a cleaning. They’ll tell you that you need crowns, fillings, redo fillings, root canals, night guards etc. Stuff all of the other reviews say. Can confirm those. I cancelled immediately future appointments after this appointment happened. Then I went to my normal dentist out of state and my teeth were perfectly fine! Also this place they’ll take forever doing X-rays as other people said. They’re going to try and scare you into spending lots of money on unnecessary procedures. The inside is a weird corporate office vibe cubicles, didn’t feel like a real dentist office. The one staff person was like running around between helping me, it was very odd. The dentist was messing with my teeth, made a noise, said my tooth cracked, my teeth were cracked down the middle, none which my actual dentist confirmed. They will try and scare you. Believe all of the bad reviews, they are telling the truth! Attached my “estimate” they gave me for a couple thousand dollars even with good insurance. Don’t go here
