About Gentle Dental of NJ

Gentle Dental of NJ sits on Ferry Street in the Ironbound district of Newark, New Jersey, the bustling, walkable neighborhood known for its tight-knit community and steady foot traffic. The practice's name signals an emphasis on a calm, comfortable experience, which suits a general office built to handle routine care alongside cosmetic and restorative work for the people who live and work nearby. General dentistry anchors the practice: exams, cleanings, fillings, and the preventive care that keeps teeth and gums healthy and catches problems while they are still small. For the busy Ironbound community, that reliable maintenance is the foundation of long-term oral health, and a gentle, welcoming approach makes it easier for patients, especially those who feel anxious, to keep up with the visits that matter most. For patients who want to improve the look of their smile, Gentle Dental of NJ offers cosmetic dentistry, porcelain veneers, and professional teeth whitening. Veneers can reshape chipped or uneven front teeth and close small gaps, while whitening counters the staining that builds from coffee, tea, and everyday wear. Because these services share the same office as routine care, patients can raise a cosmetic question during a regular appointment rather than seeking a separate referral. When teeth are missing, dental implants provide a fixed, natural-feeling replacement that restores chewing and keeps neighboring teeth properly aligned. Emergency dentistry rounds out the offering, giving patients a nearby place to turn when a tooth cracks, a filling fails, or sudden pain sets in, which matters in a dense neighborhood where convenience counts. This range suits Newark residents and Ironbound locals who want one accessible office for prevention, cosmetics, and restoration alike, particularly anyone who values a gentle, low-stress approach to dental care. Whether a patient needs a routine cleaning, is considering veneers, or is ready to replace a lost tooth, Gentle Dental of NJ brings those services together on Ferry Street, in the heart of the community it serves.

Gentle Dental of NJ on Ferry Street in Newark, New Jersey offers general dentistry with cosmetic care, porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, and dental implants, and keeps emergency appointments open in the Ironbound area.

I like this place because they explained everything, told me what I need, gave me good payment plans to pay, were nice in the way they talked to me, and they speak Spanish.

The doctor that served me was rude , I was being fitted for a front partial denture , from Dr. Bernstein he push the plate in my mouth so hard it hit the back of my mouth I jump and he said rudely what are you jumping for. I explained that it hurt , he said something in another language and walk out the room. No apology just being rude. I care not to be seen by him again. My husband had a problem with also.☹️

In response to reply below from owner: I would love to follow up with your office manager, however my tooth has already fallen out—so, too late! LOL. 🦷✨ But in all seriousness, the offer to "review my chart" 18 months after the fact and after I've already paid for emergency treatment abroad (and now need additional work for the chip you laughed off) feels about as thorough as the 60-second examinations I received. Appreciate the template response though—very on-brand. -------- Absolutely horrendous experience overall. Aside from the front desk staff and assistants—who were genuinely kind and professional—Dr. Bernstein was largely indifferent and spent no more than a minute examining me during visits. When I raised concerns about cosmetic damage and ongoing discomfort, he briefly looked and dismissed them without real evaluation... a pattern that repeated every single time. Most troubling, a cavity went undetected for roughly 18 months despite regular visits and X-rays. I only learned about it once it became serious and required treatment abroad—resulting in a root canal that could have been avoided with proper care. This happened AGAIN when he told me YET AGAIN there was nothing concerning on my X-rays, only to discover later there was. When I asked about a chip on my front tooth, he laughed and said, "No one will notice it, don't worry." Meanwhile, it became a larger chip and now requires a more involved fix. This level of care and oversight is absolutely unacceptable. I was left feeling rushed, uncared for, and dehumanised. When you are paying for professional care, you should not feel dismissed or neglected. I cannot emphasise enough how little care was shown. This isn't simply a rage review—I am speaking truthfully and wholeheartedly: AVOID this place.
