Gentle Dental West Salem

had an absolutely horrible experience at this location. The dentist I saw was unprofessional, condescending, and acted as though he was superior to me. He refused to examine or treat me simply because of a daily medication that is legally and properly prescribed to me by my primary physician. Instead of discussing my health history professionally, he judged it as "inappropriate," effectively shunned me away, and refused care. This is completely unacceptable behavior from a healthcare provider, and I would not recommend this office to anyone. Unfortunately, this situation has not been resolved. During my visit, dentist James Means refused to examine me after reviewing my prescribed medication and made me feel discriminated against because of my mental health. I had already been in the office for over an hour and was treated very disrespectfully. The office replied to my last review saying they wanted to resolve the issue, so I tried calling to speak with the manager. Of course, no one is answering or returning my calls. I am extremely disappointed with how I was treated and how this has been handled. I am taking further action regarding this experience. I would not recommend this office.

They have rescheduled twice my cleaning appointment since they still not have enough hygienist. Instead of calling they only provide a last minute message asking to call to reschedule but it seems they don't have enough people on the phones as I was sent constantly to voice mail and even if I leave a message, they don't call back. However, if you call to be a new patient they will set an appointment immediately.

Bad scheduling, they pushed my appointment back 3 months and now they want to push it again. They book appointments so far ahead of time that they don’t even know if someone will be working on your appointment day. They say they don’t have a hygienist to do my cleaning, again… it’s their business to clean teeth. The doctor is really good, but without providing cleanings, this location is useless.

Everything went well except one area. People should read charts first i happen to have a rare allergy and was exposed slightly because someone just did without reading. Im just fine but it could have been worse especially if I hadn't noticed.

I have had some decent amount of work done and you all do great work and very professional and nice. However do your phones work or the answering machines because I have called multiple times and left multiple messages trying to reschedule an appointment that I had missed because I’ve got my dates wrong. That appointment was a couple months ago.

When I walked in the temperature was cool and the waiting room was very clean. When they called my name and I was lead back to my room, I was impressed again on how clean everything was. Coming in from the coast they made my trip feel well worth it. From the receptionist to the dental assistant and the doctor they made me feel important. Thank you team Gentle Dental. -Frank T

Very nice and attentive staff. They explain everything and keep doing so as procedure goes on. The dentist is really nice and thorough. Even though I had to have 3 teeth pulled, they made the experience a good one. Well as good as it could be given the situation.

Excellet staff and excellent service. Dr. Means is kind, Knowledgable, and compassionate. He always takes the time to explain and is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. I've always had really good interactions with the staff; they're kind, funny and always helpful. My insurance coverage has proven to be difficult but their staff has eased as much of the burden as possible for me, while I was seeking care.

I had a fantastic experience at Gentle Dental West Salem! The entire team was incredibly friendly, professional, and transparent about our treatment plan and costs from start to finish. I was especially impressed by the wonderful bedside manner of both the dentist and the dental assistant. They were patient, kind, and excellent with my 9-year-old, making the entire visit stress-free and comfortable. I highly recommend this clinic to any family looking for top-notch, compassionate dental care.

Tried to call and set up a first appointment and the person who answered the phones was rude as heck to me. Started giving my attitude when I said my kid wasn’t referred to this practice. Definitely not the type of healthcare professionals I want around my children.

Best dental experience I was awake for. Thank God there’s a place that actually stands by its name. I don’t say 5 stars only cause noones perfect and that my philosophy. Other than that I say go for it if you need anything dental done.
