Located at 1340 Duckwood Drive in Eagan, Minnesota, Gentle Dentistry’s Eagan branch is part of a broader network of clinics serving the Twin Cities area. The practice is prominently led by Dr. Laura M. Kinney—affectionately known by some of her patients as "the singing dentist." True to its name, the clinic is dedicated to providing comfortable, stress-free dental care for individuals and families in a welcoming environment.
The clinic provides a full spectrum of dental treatments utilizing advanced technology, ensuring patients rarely have to go elsewhere for specialized care:
Preventative & Routine Care: Comprehensive exams, checkups, and professional cleanings.
Restorative Dentistry: Tooth-colored fillings, crowns, bridges, and in-house oral surgery.
Cosmetic & Implant Solutions: Smile enhancements including porcelain veneers, professional teeth whitening, and durable dental implants.
Patient comfort and safety are the top priorities at the Eagan office. The team focuses heavily on alleviating the anxiety often associated with going to the dentist. Dr. Kinney and her staff take the time to listen to patient concerns and emphasize dental education, ensuring patients feel empowered to make informed decisions about their family's treatment plans. The atmosphere is designed to be family-friendly, reassuring, and highly personal.
Highly Personable Care: Anchored by Dr. Kinney, the clinic receives high marks for having a warm, engaging, and compassionate team that actively works to make dental visits enjoyable.
Comprehensive Service Range: From basic cleanings to complex procedures like implants and oral surgery, patients can have most of their dental needs met under one roof.
Focus on Dental Anxiety: The clinic's core philosophy centers on "gentle" dentistry, making it an excellent choice for patients who typically experience fear or apprehension about dental work.
Limited Afternoon Availability: The clinic operates on a highly variable schedule, closing early at 12:00 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays, and at 1:00 PM on Fridays. This can make scheduling a challenge for those seeking afternoon or evening appointments.
Network Billing Limitations: Because the Eagan office is part of a larger corporate dental network, some patients have noted that navigating complex insurance claims or billing questions occasionally requires dealing with centralized corporate billing departments rather than resolving issues directly at the local front desk.

Used to be a patient few years ago and found another provider due to service being unsatisfactory. Dr. Kinney sang into my ear the entire time I was there to get a filling done. I let it go thinking she would do a good job addressing the cavity and the filling. However, the bite wasn’t correct despite her checking numerous times. She told me it would be ok on its own and to come back if I had issues. I returned a few days later to fix it and she couldn’t find any issues. But she filed down the tooth so much that it is now half its original size! I took my business to another provider and they were appalled by the filling. Apparently the filling was attached to another tooth also. Though the new dentist redid the filling dr Kinneys put, I still have extreme sensitivity due to how short the tooth has become. I may have to get a crown due to this - I wish I could send the bill to this establishment for all the pain and troubles they’ve caused me. Will not recommend Gentle even to my enemies. Instead of dentistry, maybe consider auditioning as a singer!
I went in for a filling on the last tooth on the upper right side. The cavity was near the gum line. I questioned as to whether it could be filled. The dentist said no problem. I will be able to reach that. She started drilling and drilling what seemed to be 15 minutes. She looked down at me and said she couldn't save the tooth that it was too far gone. I asked if she couldn't see that on the x-ray. She said that insurance wouldn't allow her to take the necessary x-ray to determine that. So she put in a temporary filling which insurance wouldn't cover and charged me $215.00 for filling a tooth that was pulled by an oral surgeon two weeks later! Oh, when I walked out the door to my car after the failed filling, the front desk person came running out after me because I hadn't paid! That was when I was told my insurance wouldn't pay for the temporary filling! I was not a happy patient!!!!! We will be finding a new dental clinic. We had only been there twice since our last clinic quit taking our insurance plan.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience here deserves to be shared so others know what to expect. I came to this clinic after my insurance referred me specifically to have a broken filling repaired. I explained this clearly from the very first call. I waited 3–4 weeks for direction, followed up multiple times, and still never received a clear plan for repairing the tooth. Despite being told I would be contacted if an earlier appointment became available, I had to message again and again with almost no response. When I finally asked about a cancellation, I was suddenly told that all of my appointments were being canceled altogether and that I should go somewhere else—without anyone checking my insurance benefits or offering any alternative solution. For context, I recently renewed my insurance, am eligible for two cleanings per year, and even offered to pay out-of-pocket if needed. Instead of helping me get established as a new patient or scheduling the repair I’ve been waiting for, the clinic chose to end my care through a text message. I then called the next day to speak to the concierge who went monotone and just hung up. After a month of waiting, not being heard, and trying to advocate for a simple tooth repair, I was left with no appointment, no plan, and no option to be seen—even though this is the only dental clinic in my city and I have no reliable transportation right now. It’s a broken filling. I had no pain. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of communication, the misinformation regarding my insurance, and the decision to dismiss a patient who was genuinely trying to follow the process. I hope the clinic improves how they handle new patients, cancellations, and medically necessary treatment requests so others don’t go through this.
Doctor sang the entire time!! Maybe if she spent more time on her patients and less time trying to be American Idol it would have been a better experience. We had to go back 2 different times to get my daughter's teeth cleaned. The first hygenist never said a word to us. The doctor accused us of being the reason our daughter was nervous. The dentist finally saw us at the second appointment but never actually talked to us. We had to ask the hygenist what was going on. Had to come back a third time to get teeth pulled. The dentist never said a word to us expect to accuse my daughter of not brushing her teeth. We informed her that our daughter does brush and she wanted to argue and say she doesn't. Then pulls the teeth out and never said a word to us. She is too busy singing and chatting with her coworkers. We have only met 2 friendly people there. We are finding a new place and definitely don't recommend
2 1/2 stars. Gentle? not at all. Dental assistant never spoke about what she was doing to my teeth. while she was flossing she had accidentally ripped out one of my fillings. Thinking I was going to get refilled that same day they scheduled me out for 2 weeks. Not happy at all. Update: 5 stars to the dentist! I absolutely love her and how kind and gentle she really is. She sings along beautifully to all the music that they have playing in the background to make you feel comfortable. Sue is one of the best front desk receptionists and really cares about her patients. Sue deserves a raise!!!
