About Grace Dental Design, Dr Sandy Grace, DDS

Based on North Pennsylvania Avenue in the Central Oklahoma City area of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Grace Dental Design, Dr Sandy Grace, DDS is a dental practice serving the area. A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been cleaned out, most often using tooth-coloured composite resin that is shaped and bonded to blend with the surrounding tooth. It is usually completed in a single appointment and is one of the most routine restorative procedures in dentistry.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. Do fillings hurt?
The procedure itself is normally done under local anaesthetic, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Some sensitivity to hot and cold in the days afterward is common and usually settles on its own.

Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

I had a couple of terrible experiences with dr grace. She filled a small cavity that hurt me for months afterwards so she had to do it over again. The next year I had a crown that needed to come out due to decay underneath. She didn’t take an X-ray and said it would be easy. While trying to pull and cut the crown off, she knocked another tooth off in the process then in the middle of the extraction while I was cut open and bleeding she said she couldn’t finish. It was totally traumatic and because of it I’ve lost faith in dentists.

Been going to Dr. Grace a few years now, she and her team are always wonderful! Super polite and friendly. Their follow up after a procedure is fantastic and fast to respond afters hours in an emergency. Plus as an added bonus their dental chairs message and you can pick from flavors of gloves which is fun, don't care how old you get!!! Procedures go relatively fast and they will ensure your comfort!

Over the years with these "friends" I can get buy with some appt's without anesthesia! They call me at home to make sure there are no problems, even during covid. They go way above and beyond for patient care and consideration. I love them!
