About Griffin Dental Practice

Griffin Dental Practice provides dental care on Anlaby Road in Kingston upon Hull, England. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.

A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Cosmetic treatment is generally the least invasive branch of dentistry, built around changing how teeth look rather than fixing something broken. Whitening and bonding sit at the lighter end; veneers and reshaping involve more planning. Most cosmetic dental insurance excludes this kind of work, since it is elective rather than medically necessary.

Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath.

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a false tooth to crowns placed on the teeth either side of the gap, creating a fixed replacement rather than a removable one. It is a longstanding alternative to an implant, particularly when the neighbouring teeth already need crowns. Honest review. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this dental practice based on our experience. Pricing is reasonable. My wife has always looked after her teeth, so it has been extremely frustrating that she has had to return around four or five times over the past year to have the same filling redone because it repeatedly fell out. More recently, she returned again with an issue involving the same tooth. On this occasion, the filling that was placed was apparently too large and caused significant pain and what we were told may be nerve damage. Due to the severity of the pain, she had to attend another dentist for an emergency appointment. They confirmed that the filling appeared to be too large and advised that she may ultimately require either root canal treatment or extraction. She is still in severe pain, struggling to eat and sleep, yet was advised to return to Griffin in a week's time. Given the level of pain she is experiencing, we find this extremely concerning and very disappointing. Another ongoing issue is the waiting time. Even when attending appointments on time, she is regularly left waiting around 30 minutes or more before being seen. It has become so common that we have unfortunately started joking about it, although it is not something we should have to accept. To be fair, I cannot say that the dentist is unprofessional once you are actually in the room with her. Our concerns are primarily about the repeated problems with treatment, the ongoing pain, and the long waiting times. We are now looking into private dental plans so that my wife can receive treatment elsewhere. This is not really by choice, but more for peace of mind and to ensure she can receive the appropriate care without having to repeatedly return or wait a long time to be seen. Overall, this experience has been extremely disappointing, and unfortunately we would not recommend the practice based on what we have experienced.

I am on the list for 2 years just waiting and I found out recently that I'm not even on the list anymore they kicked me out, they said they wouldn't take any more patients in the clinic. This is outrageous because I have problems with my dental teeth and I can't afford to pay.

Awful dentist. Have been told on two occasions that nothing is wrong with tooth when I have gone as emergency (sometimes sitting for hrs) first male dentist saw me 4 times, was made to feel like I was lying and didn’t know what I was talking about, was eye rolled at and told I could possibly be in pain. Called 111 and saw new dentist who gave me root canal due to nerve needed removing and I had to go to GP as I had beginning of sepsis due to infection. Change practitioner and have again been told after emergency appointment that nothing is wrong(a simple cray would have showed otherwise) 111 to the rescue again with emergency dentist appointment. Again another root canal needed with as he said very angry bleeding nerve that also needed draining. Started the work and said needed finishing asap from own dentist. Called today and been told I can be seen at my next booking in over 4 weeks even though dentist said work needs finishing asap. After some back and forth with receptionist I was finally told I can come and sit the following day and wait (again could be hrs) to see if she can finish the treatment. Had contacted practice manager anbout first issue and was pointless, not very professional over the phone, much more professional via email, but still no apology and simply changed my dentist. This is second time this has happened and doesn’t fill me with confidence moving forward. Would be nice if patient was listened to re pain, we know our bodies

Been with this dentist for a few years now and thought it was ok until my recent appointment the male dentist was very rude to me and said I have some sort of gun disease (he actually said its much worse then gum disease) and he said i know i do. I was very shocked and said I dont know what it is and no one has ever told me this before. He then rolled his eyes at me insisting that I already know and was very rude to me and talked down to me. I was nearly in tears and am also very upset ive had this on going problem and was never informed about it.

Sons first appointment; firstly was waiting 30 minutes after arriving with on time, no acknowledgment of this. Simple sorry to keep you would’ve been fine. Obviously my son was nervous with it been his first visit, he did really well initially letting them count his teeth. Absolutely zero praise or acknowledgement/reassurance. After this the dentist asked if he could put fluoride on his teeth, my son became upset and refused this but again absolutely no reassurance/compassion form either of the dentist or assistant. Bluntly told to come back in 3 months. Back in the car after reassuring my son his simple reply was “i didn’t know what it was” all it may of needed was a gentle explanation from either of the dentist or assistant.
