About Hanger Clinic: Prosthetics & Orthotics

Hanger Clinic: Prosthetics & Orthotics is a dental practice on Harlem Road in Buffalo, New York. Dentures replace some or all of the natural teeth in a jaw with a removable appliance, custom-fitted to the mouth. A full denture replaces every tooth; a partial fills gaps where some natural teeth remain. Because the jaw bone reshapes over time, dentures typically need adjusting or remaking periodically.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. How long does it take to get used to new dentures?
Several weeks is typical, and speech and eating usually feel awkward at first. Sore spots in the early stage are common and are adjusted rather than endured — they are not something to put up with.
What is the difference between full and partial dentures?
A full denture replaces all the teeth in a jaw, while a partial fills the gaps where some natural teeth remain and clips onto them for support. Which applies depends simply on how many teeth are left and their condition.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

My daughter has AFO for both her feet. One cracked and needed repair. I was told they weren't able to fix and it needed to be replaced. I wanted to keep the cracked one so my daughter had something to wear until the new one came in but was told they needed to send it in with the mold. My daughter does not walk well without her braces so made it very clear i really needed it back asap. I called today for an update since its been a week and found out the dr put in a need by date of 3 weeks out. That is not acceptable to make someone wait that long for a divice they use daily to help them walk especially without being able to use the old one untill the new one comes in.

Didn't tell us everything we needed for initial appointment, so we didn't have everything and had to go back a second time for that. Appointment for next step made. We get there and the place was closed. They then lie about calling and leaving messages about changing the appointment. Cell phones keep records of calls and messages. Not one call or message in my phone. They changed the appointment to almost 3 weeks later. Ridiculous.

Maybe I got a good one. Athar Khoso. There wast no language barrier. I had him fit me for a brace. Every so often they call to check up on. If there’s an issue come in and they fix it. For example, my leather part was starting to peel. Not a big deal. It’s just a tiny pull. Told the guy it’s not really a dealbreaker and they said “well, come in a take a look so it’s not a dealbreaker.” The only thing is they it takes a little bit of a wait. It took about 15 minutes to fix something. A little long but they make sure it’s done correct. The wait time is also fantastic. There’s barely anyone there (which makes me think how they even stay in business…). So it’s not like they have to rush rush rush to get people out the door.

I WAS a happy client at Hanger. I received great care with Sahar and Daniel... this was in Buffalo, N.Y., a couple years ago. I don't know what happened, but they both left, in a hurry, very unexpectedly, and unfortunately, the notes left behind were a mess. But my care with both of them was phenomenal. I was in the process of a new prosthetic when they left. And almost done. We were to have a final fitting. This one was better than what I had been wearing; we were progressing. But due to the mess of notes, new Hanger employee started from scratch. I understood. Was disappointed, but understood. Happy with new prosthetic and prosthetist. Then he left. And I'm not sure just what came in after that. No attention at all. Trouble understanding, due to a slight language barrier. Increasing frustration. Then I had a technical issue with the pin not releasing, and I COULD NOT GET A HOLD OF ANYONE. No help local, no 800 number even. Not even a return call from corporate as I left messages wherever I found any number. I was livid. I will not go back.

The service here at Hanger Clinic was truly outstanding. Scheduling an appointment was easy, I was treated with kindness and respect and the overall process of getting my brace was actually enjoyable. Dr. Khoso as well as the beautiful lady at the front desk were an absolute pleasure to cross paths with. I would definetely come back here for any orthopedic needs and I would absolutely recommend my friends and family to come here too!
