About Hartford Hospital - Women's Ambulatory Health Services

Hartford Hospital - Women's Ambulatory Health Services provides dental care on Park Street in the South Green area of Hartford, Connecticut. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. I waited 2-3 hours to be seen after my appointment. Was the last to be seen they were closing the office during my visit. Got back results I need to speak with the doctor about but they’re not answering they don’t close for another half hour so that’s crazy. Also listed my partner could be given the information as I anticipated they would try to contact our shared phone at an hour they had already been told I wouldn’t have it. No follow up or communication through my chart so I’m gonna have to try a virtual visit so I can sleep at night. I never previously had to wait more than 24 hours for this kind of contact and care and this is the most serious health issue I’ve had detected through testing. Makes it hard to not worry and feel like I just need to find providers who care and aren’t understaffed.

Holy moley this place is awful. Every time I've gone I've waited an unreal amount of time and no one seems to know what they're doing. The final straw was when I came in after an ER visit and the provider told me at the end to go schedule my annual at the checkout desk. I was then told at the checkout desk that they were not scheduling annuals at that time and I could "try again next year." I decided then and there to go to a new provider, and when I called to have my records released, I was told that I had to COME IN PHYSICALLY to sign a release form. No sending it to me so I can sign it and scan it like every other office that isn't living in the time before Christ does. Avoid this place like the plague. You'd get much better care at Planned Parenthood! UPDATE: I went in to sign the release, did it, turned around and was halfway home when they called me and told me THEY filled their part of the form out incorrectly, so I had to turn around and drive BACK to the office to fill it out again. You cannot make this stuff up.

Find yourselves a better practice. They ask you to come in 30 minutes earlier than scheduled time just to have you wait in the waiting room for over an hour, and then another hour in the exam room. Lately my appointments have been rescheduled the day off and then scheduled for a time that does not work for me. When I call the office to ask the reason behind the last minute rescheduling all I get is an attitude. Some of the medical staff are disrespectful and have Zero phone etiquette. This was the last straw for me, I have canceled all future appointments and will no longer be a patient there. If you decide to be a patient here, I highly suggest you take the day off from work/school completely, as you will be in there for hours.

So when they called me back they made me an appointment for 1:00pm. Thats it. Nothing else explained. I got a notification that I had to be there for 12:30, and then 1:00p. So I filled out the registration paperwork and called. Well they were supposed to let me know that I just had to be there 30 minutes early for my 1:00pm appt…. Good thing I called. Then got there, then got an ultrasound then they sat me down….1:45p I go up and say uhhh I’ve been waiting for 45 minutes. Oh well your appt isn’t until 2…??? I’m confused…terrible communication about the appointments and how it works. I had a 1:00p appt but ended up with a 12:30 and 2:00p appt instead?! Please make that make sense.

I’ve been getting seen here for years and not once have I had any issues with anyone that works there until today. How is it that I call to reschedule my appointment and mind you they didn’t have anything soon so I told the girl politely to cancel my appointment that I would go to an urgent care and she just says “ok” and proceeds to hang up on my face without even trying to find me something. You shouldn’t work in this profession if you’re not a morning person or you’re going to hang up on patients face in an extreme rude manner.

This clinic is great, if you have any problems they will get you in ASAP. Everyone has been very kind to me and all the services are in the same building because it is a clinic which is very convenient. They are a very busy clinic though so arrive early - registration process includes getting blood pressure etc. I’ve only had to wait when I’ve been an add on appointment in the afternoon.

Definitely do not go here if you are looking for an OBGYN. Extremely disorganized office & lack of respect for patients time. I should have checked the reviews before wasting 2 hours of my day to not be seen by anyone, as it’s evident from other reviews this is a pattern of the office. Plenty of other options to look elsewhere for care.

They keep you waiting. What’s the point of taking appointment when they cannot see you on the given time. Been waiting here for 1.5 hrs. They keep saying doctor is busy with another patient!

They have great care, BUT do NOT TALK TO THE SOCIAL WORKER ANNIE. She has been reporting families to DCF for food issues. Something SHE CAN RECOMMEND FOOD BANKS FOR!! She is a BIG TIME reporter. I’m 8 months pregnant and having to deal with DCF now. On top of preeclampsia. Do you and your family a favor. Avoid her.

If you’re looking for a punctual doctor i wouldn’t come to this office. I haven’t even seen an actual Dr (only nurses) and im almost 7 months pregnant. I wait 30+ minutes PAST my appointment time to even be called into a room (which last time i was here there was bugs crawling all over the floor). Absolutely ridiculous that no one has consideration for your time here. On top of the fact that melody at the front desk has a terrible attitude and the manager Kathy has yet to call me back! Considering their staff, Tanya smith, skipped my appointment that was desperately needed yesterday you’d think someone higher up would’ve contacted me to explain what happened. Nope! You can tell just by the parking lot that this place is trash and not well maintained at all.
