About Healthy Dental Alternatives

Healthy Dental Alternatives is a dental practice on Sikes Place in the Providence Estates East area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Holistic, or biological, dentistry applies standard dental diagnosis and treatment within an approach that emphasises material choice and conservative treatment, considering oral health as connected to the body more broadly rather than treating the mouth in isolation.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. What is holistic dentistry?
It is an approach that considers oral health in the context of overall health and tends to emphasise material choices and conservative treatment. The underlying clinical standards for diagnosing and treating dental disease remain the same.
Do holistic dentists use fillings without mercury?
Practices describing themselves this way typically favour tooth-coloured composite and ceramic materials over amalgam. If material choice is your reason for choosing a practice, it is worth confirming directly what they use.
Why do dentists take X-rays?
Decay between teeth and problems below the gumline are invisible to the naked eye, so X-rays are what reveal them. Modern digital images use a low dose and are taken only when clinically justified.

Upon entering the cozy and inviting reception area you're greeted by AnaMaria the incredibly capable and knowledgeable office manager - she wears many hats and she wears them well. Dr Chintala is wonderful! She is kind, compassionate and vastly knowledgeable in all things dental health and the wholly holistic approach the practice is known for. My case is complicated, the treatment is extensive and I'm blown away by the protocols in place to ensure any toxic materials - no matter how ancient - are removed in a way that will cause the least harm, if any. I feel completely safe in her care as well as that of everyone I have met so far. The dental hygenist is a miracle worker with the touch of an angel (not an exageration!). Also want to give a shoutout to Dr C's assistant, Laura! I'm a nervous nelly when it comes to all things "dentist" and I feel very supported. I can't imagine going anywhere else and I feel incredibly lucky to have found them when I did!

I had the best experience I have ever had at the dentist! Dr.C was professional, kind, very good at explaining and being thorough. I also had the best cleaning! I truly felt there were many options, and holistic too, for me here and my dentist cared about making sure I understood the process. Highly recommend!

Today was my first time being examined by Dr. Chintala. She is a warm and caring individual who is very engaging. Just as importantly, as I discovered while chatting with her, she is deeply committed to holistic dentistry. I also need to acknowledge the staff who are outstanding. AnaMarie went out of her way to assist me from the time I entered the office. Deb did an outstanding job cleaning my teeth and Caroline was fast and accurate operating the X-ray machine. All staff are courteous and place the patient on a pedestal. I can't recommend this practice more highly.

I was a patient of Dr Plascyk. The transition to Dr Chintala was seamless. After two visits I can confirm that I am totally happy with the care from all the staff and especially Dr Chintala.

I was a patient here for over 5 years. I found Dr. Plascyk to be arrogant but a skilled dentist. I initially went for TMJ and he was partially more helpful than other dentists at making the night guard but he is no expert on TMJ and not interested in furthering his knowledge on the subject with the latest information and developments and was ultimately of little help with my TMD. The dental work I received was adequate but my dental fillings all got discolored around the edges in less than a year after receiving. I've been to many dentists (due to moving) and gotten much dental work and this has never happened so consistently before, that my fillings develop stains around the edges. Also, it is strange that he does not use a dental assistant and that left me a little unsettled. With all that, I ended my time here due to staff. Nancy was always courteous and helpful and professional. Anamarie was not. I was running late for an appointment and called in. I have never been treated so rudely, unprofessionally and bizarrely by any professional office staff. She was talking to me as if she had personally looked inside my mouth, talking down to me and had a really negative attitude. I requested to speak to Dr. Plascyk, he called me, as soon as I answered, he calmy told me I was acting inappropriately and said the conversation was finished, did not give me the opportunity to say a thing other than hello. Very disappointed and I wonder at the relationship between Dr. Plascyk and Anamarie. I am putting this awful experience behind me, realizing there were things going on behind the scenes.

The new dentist, Dr Cihintala, is amazing and so kind, gentle and caring. I can't recommend them enough! I drive over an hour to come here because there are no dentists anywhere near me who truly care about holistic dental care. The hygienist, Asia, was amazing!!! I wish she worked here full time because she was the best hygienist I've ever had!! She was very thorough but also super kind and gentle. Again I can't recommend them enough!!!

Dr. Plascyk and his staff are such great people. They are friendly and the environment is warm and inviting. Dr. Plascyk has a wonderful bedside manner, a great sense of humor and is very professional. He is also thorough and precise. I appreciate him explaining what he was doing throughout my extraction and him taking his time to extract the tooth carefully without doing harm to my bone and its structure. It's a blessing knowing Dr. Plascyk takes ALL aspects of the mouth seriously and as equally important as other parts of the body. I value, appreciate and do NOT take for granted him being a Holistic Biologic Dentist and will NEVER see a conventional dentist again. Dr. P., you're stuck with me for life!!!🤣

Dr Plascyk and his staff are truly amazing people. I was nervous because I don't enjoy going to the dentist but they provided both great care and comfort. I felt nothing during or after the procedure. Definitely planning on going back for all my dental needs.
