About Healthy Smiles Long Beach

Healthy Smiles Long Beach operates on Atlantic Avenue in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach, California. Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Healthy Smiles Long Beach located in Long Beach?
Healthy Smiles Long Beach is on Atlantic Avenue in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach, California (90807).
What days is Healthy Smiles Long Beach open?
Healthy Smiles Long Beach is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Healthy Smiles Long Beach offer?
Listed services at Healthy Smiles Long Beach include Periodontics. The full list is shown on this page.
Can a periodontist save a loose tooth?
Sometimes. If the looseness comes from bone loss around the tooth, deep cleaning and periodontal treatment can stabilise it, though the outcome depends on how much support has already been lost.
What is gum recession and can it be treated?
Recession is when gum tissue pulls back and exposes more of the tooth root, often from aggressive brushing, gum disease, or grinding. Grafting procedures can cover exposed roots, though how well that works depends on the extent of the recession.
How can I look after my teeth between appointments?
Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between the teeth daily covers most of it. Limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount consumed.

Unprofessional Unfortunately after I decided to cancel my treatment, I was charged fees that were not authorized under the contract I signed. When I asked the office to identify the section of the contract that allowed those charges, they were unable to do so. The situation caused me a great deal of unnecessary stress and frustration.

Dentist was very nice and knowledgeable. Extremely slow wait times—took 2 hours and was unable to do a cleaning, which is the reason I came in. Office is a bit aged compared to others in the area.

Implant price $1300 special will cost $2700 total. 1. Inconvenient. They dont have 3D XRAY, so you will need to go to another dentist Bixby and get the imaging done. Extra Cost $150 2. Bone graft not included in special so this will be additional cost. 3. Payments are taken upfront before service. My appointment was canceled and pushed back. (My opinion they are delaying purposely to pay for bills, waiting for more customers) 4. The crown outsourced, implant material outsourced (need to wait for supplier) 5. Oral surgeon is outsource too so you will need to wait for him to come in (he's a floater oral surgeon) 6. Dentist is in-house to place crown and patch with filling. Very inconvenient and wait time is about 6 mos to 1year to get serviced completed. Waiting, delays, and taking $ upfront isn't a good business model Lastly, office equipment is older and I think with all explained above, I recommend finding a dentist that have better handle of outsource and equipment in house. Avoid this dentist for specialty service.

Dr. Delshad is so fast and experienced with extraction! Julie was AMAZING nurse AND therapy relief for insecurities, I got a toothslat and was worried about look and was assured in one week I can come back if any problems. Impressed with how real the tooth replacements look but appreciate being able to adjust if needed. I have gone to so many dentists all over Los Angeles and Long Beach and this is by far the best service and most understanding. They do not powertrip or hustle you like other implant centers. I was also able to bring my dog who Mimi babysat during the extraction which is a testimony of the genuine good vibes because my dog was safe and comfortable with her! Looking forward to when gum periodentist is booking! They also take LA CARE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
