About Heritage Regenerative Medicine: John Stavrakos, MS, MD

Heritage Regenerative Medicine: John Stavrakos, MS, MD is a dental practice on Corporate Center Drive in the McAlpine area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Holistic, or biological, dentistry applies standard dental diagnosis and treatment within an approach that emphasises material choice and conservative treatment, considering oral health as connected to the body more broadly rather than treating the mouth in isolation.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. Are holistic dentists still trained in regular dentistry?
Yes. A holistic practice is a licensed dental practice that has chosen a particular philosophy around materials and conservative treatment — it is not a separate qualification, and standard diagnosis and treatment still apply.
Is biological or holistic dentistry more expensive?
It can be, since ceramic and composite materials and more conservative techniques sometimes cost more than the cheapest alternative. Pricing varies by practice, so it is worth asking directly rather than assuming.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

I’ve been seeing Dr. John for about five years, and I can’t say enough good things about his practice. It’s incredibly refreshing to have access to truly cutting edge treatment options paired with a doctor who takes the time to understand the root cause of an issue, not just the symptoms. Dr. John consistently presents thoughtful treatment options without immediately pushing prescriptions as the first line of defense. This practice is my first call for any injury, illness, or health concern for both me and my family. Over the years, he has supported me through double pneumonia, long COVID symptoms, and various injuries, always with care, attention, and expertise. If you’re looking for a physician who genuinely listens and offers meaningful solutions, especially when you feel like you’ve hit a dead end with modern medicine then I highly recommend Heritage Regenerative Medicine.

Dr. John has been amazing. I have been sick for over 2 years with meds pushed at me as the fix. So many side effects and a friend told me about Dr. John. Dr. John has taken the time with me to get to the core of the problem , answering all my questions and concerns . Looking at a more natural way in what our body needs for treatment options. I am finally getting back to feeling more like myself. I highly recommend Heritage Regenerative Medicine.

Since the beginning of my initial visit to Heritage Regenerative Medicine, Dr.John and staff have been the single most kind and courteous Dr.s office I've ever been too. Dr.John takes the time to hear my concerns, then makes it a point to give you multiple choices in how your treated. He will give the best recommendations to fit your medical situation/need and how long before you'll see results. All the while monitoring each protocol that he's recommended for the best out come possible. Taking an approach to personal health care is a journey that requires discipline and self control and Dr. John and staff are prime at encouraging each patient individually. Dr. John seeks fair compensation for all the services he has provided and explains the cost breakdown in depth letting you choose how you'd like to proceed, knowing that his office is purely self pay and patients budgets vary. Thank-you Dr. John and staff

I told the woman administering a treatment that I had rolling veins. When the needle slipped as she fully inserted it, she said “oops it did roll.” 🤦🏼‍♀️ She also said she didn’t like the way the needle looked as it sat lodged in my arm, but that she was afraid to remove it. She took it out, and rubbed the area with a dry piece of scratchy gauze. I have never felt pain from a needle like that. I was in office following an outpatient procedure at a different establishment, so the woman who missed the vein entirely asked if there were issues that morning with the needle. I said no, I had told the earlier practitioner that I had rolling veins so she held it in place and inserted the needle on the first attempt. Again, that was at a separate establishment. Then another nurse (the receptionist) came by to help. She told me that she was the better choice because she had 47 years experience and implied her coworker was not competent. It was a painful start to the treatment, and while I was waiting for them to get a new needle I began questioning the quality of care I would receive. I realized I didn’t trust either practitioner, and didn’t want the treatment anymore. Instead of giving me a bill, the second lady told me I owed almost $300. I said I would not pay since I did not receive a treatment, and asked to speak to the doctor. I was immediately told he was busy, but that if I didn’t pay he would send the bill to collections. They then agreed to charge me $250 for the consultation only, but I had asked about prices twice, and this amount was never mentioned. At this point I had lost trust in the individuals implementing the treatment and would not be going back for any type of treatment at all. I said I would wait to speak to the doctor, but I was now told he wouldn’t see me because he was upset and because she had already told me everything he would say. This may have been true, but I suspect it was more the woman speaking than the doctor who was upset. Then she asked me why I was still there, so I left. I didn’t realize until late that night when the insertion point began aching again that neither staff member had ever cleaned the area where the needle had been inserted. At best this was lack of transparency and communication. At worst, there are ethical and competency issues. In either case, I recommend proceeding with caution.

After two years of being at an office where I wasn’t making progress with HRT I finally went to see Dr. John after being in the hospital. He and his staff have helped me recover from being over medicated from traditional western medicine modalities. Now I’m on the right dose of thyroid medication and the right dose of HRT…. It has been a long recovery for me but all of the services Dr. John offers has brought me back to feeling better than I have in my adult life. I send all of my clients to him as well that’s how much I trust Dr. John!!!
