About Hillcrest Dental Office
Hillcrest Dental Office operates on Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast in the Southeast Washington area of Washington, District of Columbia. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. Nicole, who works at the front desk, makes false claims about people, leading to defamation. She often accuses others unfairly and can be quite rude. If you are near her, she may wrongfully accuse you of invading her space. Additionally, she has been known to incorrectly record cancellations in your files.
The lady who answers the phone is very rude and sarcastic. I called and left a message, someone returned my call told me she was going to look up some information and never called me back. I had to call the clinic numerous times just for someone to answer. There was an issue with the insurance and when I told her what the insurance advise she still acted like she couldn’t help and then left me on hold. I hung up because she never returned to the call and why would I want to have my personal business handled at a place of business with rude employees.
Front desk staff are friendly and professional. I saw Dr. Davidson, the son, for a routine exam and cleaning. He has good bedside manners and is professional. He answered my questions thoroughly and is funny. He didn't hurt me at all. I highly recommend this dental office and Dr. Davidson to anyone.
The worst Dentist of all times I wouldn’t recommend Alphonso Davidson jr. to a blind person. You suppose to be seen at 9:00 am and don’t been until 10:45 maybe 11/00am. Please do not let him do a root canal on you. I’m guaranteed your going feel every thing he’s doing including the drill I jump out the chair began to tell him I feel everything and he tell me to stop acting like a baby. And keep your eye on him to he be giving creep vibes know question. You have a better chance finding another dentist he’s definitely not the one.
I went to this office and was told that I would receive quality services. I can actually say the pulling of the teeth wasn't bad. But once I got those Mister Ed looking dentures it left me distraught, embarrassed it changed my face completely. I took pictures I was told that they will be well made. So in turn they were so big they wouldn't stay in my mouth I couldn't even close my mouth. I went back to dr.I went back to dr. Davis after my teeth flew out Thanksgiving of last year. I was so embarrassed my anxiety kicked in and I did not bother to pick the Tifa. But I'm went back to dr. Davis to see what he could do for me oh, he asked where the teeth were I told him what happened. He basically shrugged and said there's nothing I can do to help you. He didn't even. It was his office staff who told me to write my insurance and try to get help. He's unprofessional, he's uncaring and he's cold. I am filing a complaint with the dentistry board simply because just because people have Medicaid does not mean they should receive less than anybody else.
Went to Dr. Alphonzo Davidson Jr. for a broken/chipped tooth, which resulted in him finding cavities, ultimately resulting in me receiving three root canals. Yup, THREE, all within two weeks. There’s a negative stereotype around root canals, however all three of mine were absolutely smooth and painless. He said I had narrow canals, which made the procedure longer than anticipated, but even still I walked out both days after service, able to go to work. Mind blowing right? I’m not sure why there are negative reviews, granted my first day I did believe the receptionist to be a tad rude but nothing major. I have to go back for crowns, but even still, I am beyond satisfied with my services rendered and the overall customer service of the staff. Also, both of his dental assistants whose names I can’t remember were very warm, welcoming, and informative.
