I used to white-knuckle my way through every dental appointment. If that's you too, I want to tell you about Dr. Gilton's practice because it genuinely changed how I feel about going to the dentist. This isn't a slick corporate office. It's a clinic where you can tell, from the moment you walk in, that someone here actually cares about what they're doing. The place is immaculate, not just "clean for a waiting room" clean. On my first visit, I had tanked up on a bit too much water heading over there. So let's just say I had to use the restroom more than once. After I washed my hands the first time, I went to toss the paper towel in the trash and I noticed the trash was empty. Kind of odd since it was the end of the day. Usually any similar bathroom shows evidence of abuse by the end of a busy day. About 30 mins later I went back in to get rid of the rest of that water I mentioned. The trash was empty again! Then I started looking around and noticed just how clean the office is. That kind of attention isn't accidental. I see now it runs through everything they do. The technology is legitimately impressive, and I say that as someone who's skeptical of "state-of-the-art" claims. They used a 3D intraoral wand — about the size of a slim popsicle — that's accurate to something like a thousandth of a millimeter. They used it to fit my crown (perfect, first try) and to map my entire mouth while Dr. Gilton watched the model build in real time. Also, their X-ray equipment delivers a tiny, pinpoint dose to exactly where it's needed, with no heavy shielding drama — just precision. The hygienists and techs are skilled and clearly work well together. My cleaning was thorough without being an ordeal. That's a practiced skill, and they clearly have it. And then there's Dr. Gilton himself. He's one of the warmest people I've encountered in any clinical setting; unhurried, clearly experienced, and genuinely engaged. He hums while he works. I know that sounds like a small thing, but when you're anxious in a dental chair, that quiet confidence is contagious. I actually relaxed. The moment that sold me completely: I had a tooth on the verge of cracking in half and it was clear that it needed handling that day. They didn't put me on a waitlist. Dr. Gilton canceled a personal commitment and worked late to make sure it got done. That level of true care said everything to me. Pricing is very fair too. The saying "do what you love and love what you do" is alive and well at Holistic Dentistry in St. Pete, FL. It's evident that Dr. Tom and Dr. Amber are passionate about their work. This passion carries through the entire office and team and one can sense the positive energy in the office that the team is 100% focused on a holistic approach to dentistry and health. I actually look forward to teeth cleanings! Dr. Amber did a filling for me and Dr. Tom removed top two wisdom teeth, under local numbing - both procedures were executed with such care and recovered faster than expected! Both give excellent numbing shots which are barely felt, and are assisted by great dental assistants like Mandy. Also check out their own toothpaste line HIPPIE DENTIST ( "Perfect Paste" Blackberry CardaMint flavor - excellent!) which is made with n-HA instead of fluoride (Sold in-office and online) If you have avoided going to the dentist, or have been rushed or pressured at a dentist in the past, or looking for a holistic approach, highly recommend prospective patients make an appointment to visit !

Dr. Tom's ability to safely replace my legacy metal fillings greatly contributes to my long-term health plan. Very caring and kind assistants/ staff with great attention to detail.

I went here at the end of 2021. They took a ton of x-rays and told me I had “kissing cavities” between my teeth that needed to be addressed right away. They also referred me to an oral surgeon to get my wisdom teeth removed even though they hadn’t grown in yet because supposedly they were going to knock my back molars out of place when they came in. I went and got a second opinion from a dentist who actually practices holistically. He took minimal x-rays, showed me my wisdom teeth were fine, and explained that what they were calling “cavities” weren’t actually cavities. It was just how the x-ray was reading. He also told me that removing teeth of any kind should be an absolute last resort because it can directly affect your overall health and that the body can heal and remineralize when you support it properly. I intentionally waited over four years to write this. My wisdom teeth grew in fully and I have not had a single problem. My teeth didn’t move, I never developed any cavities, and the whole treatment plan they were pushing turned out to be completely unnecessary. The hygienist was amazing and honestly gave me the most thorough cleaning I’ve ever had. But this place markets itself as holistic and it’s really not. Real holistic care gets to the root cause of things. This was just fear based dentistry pushing procedures you don’t need.

Absolutely wonderful staff and doctors! I have been to my fair share of bad dentists over the years and so glad I finally found an office with ethical, compassionate and caring doctors. I usually see Dr. Amber and she is absolutely amazing. She took time to show and explain to me the various issues I had and also spent time educating me on how to prevent new areas of decay from starting. I loved her preventative and conservative approach. She is gentle and I never felt any pain! 10/10 recommend this office!!
