About Hopkin Oral Surgery
When a general dentist marks a case for an oral surgeon, it usually means one of three things: a third molar sitting against a nerve, a tooth that cannot be saved and needs a graft to hold the socket, or a jaw problem that no filling will fix. This practice is the receiving end of those referrals for much of the east side of the valley. Dr. Dustin Hopkin and Dr. Yuliya Petukhova are both board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and the case list runs well past extractions: dental implants including All-on-4 and zygomatic placement, bone grafting and sinus lifts, exposure of impacted canines, temporary anchorage devices for orthodontists, TMJ care, oral biopsy, corrective jaw surgery and facial trauma reconstruction.
Before booking, the question worth settling is whether your case belongs in a surgical office at all. Simple, fully erupted extractions are routinely done by a general dentist. Impacted or partially erupted third molars, teeth with roots wrapped around the inferior alveolar nerve, and any case where you would rather be asleep than numb are the reasons a surgical practice exists, since the training includes anesthesia administration and the room is equipped and monitored for it. Sedation and anesthesia options are discussed at consultation, and the honest answer on which level you need depends on your anatomy and your anxiety, not on a menu price.
Ask for the cone beam scan to be reviewed with you before a wisdom tooth is removed, because nerve proximity is visible on 3D imaging and changes the risk conversation. Grafting is the other thing to raise early: if an implant is the eventual plan, preserving the socket at extraction is usually cheaper and simpler than rebuilding ridge height later.
The office is at 1377 East 3900 South, suite 104, on the Holladay and Millcreek boundary, a few minutes from Olympus High School and roughly fifteen minutes south of downtown. Parking is free and on-site with ADA access, which is not a small detail when you are being driven home after IV sedation. Clinic runs 8am to 4pm Monday through Thursday, closing at 2pm on Friday, and referring dentists can send cases through the practice's online form.

They are the best dentists place I have ever gone to. They treat you so caring and loving. They walk you through everything they are going to do to you. I for sure will be going back to them and keeps them has my dentist!
My daughter received the best care they were all so nice and explained everything so well
I was hoping I’d make it to my grave without needing my wisdom teeth removed, but at 29 they needed to come out last week. My two bottoms were completely horizontal, and I had a fifth in my sinus. I’m SO glad I came to Dr. Hopkins - the pain from removing my impacted bottom teeth was minimal to the point where I kept forgetting work was even done on one of them. Dr. Hopkins also filled the gap in my sinus and got me in this morning last minute to check it because I had concerns (he said it’s healing well btw). I’m so appreciative and super grateful for the experience I’ve had - thank you Dr.Hopkins!!
The staff and Dr. Hopkins are very skilled, and made me feel at ease. They kept the process moving along so I wasn't kept waiting. I arrived kind of dreading the experience and left feelingv very well cared for.
Very well organized office. All the staff, especially his assistant, were great! Very thorough, everything was explained in detail and yet not laborious at all. Dr. Hopkins was efficient and kind with a great bedside manner. Highly recommend!!
The staff and Dr. Hopkins are the best! Any anxiety is alleviated immediately. Their calm and professional manner puts you right at ease. They follow thru entirely with your care even after you have left their office. Their rates are competitive with other similar procedures. Highly recommended !
From the moment I got in the office for the general anesthesia and follow up at this time I had a good experience. They did a good job with my major fear of dental anything. With my dentist and my anthologist being so much trust for me but both were out of town And sent me to Dr Hopkins. I felt safe with him.
Excellent care from the entire staff. Dr Hopkin’s was exceptional and a very caring doctor. I was in an unusual situation and needed this dental surgery done right away so I could continue with other treatment I’m receiving. The staff got me in earlier than expected and took excellent care of me. Will definitely return and let others know about the clinic.
Literally cannot recommend Dr. Hopkin enough. I needed a broken molar removed, and even though the clinic was slammed busy the day I went in, all the service I received was very attentive. Everyone was professional, but also relaxed in a way that definitely helps any nerves associated with going in for dental work. In my experience, dentist offices tend to be kind of fear-mongery about encouraging implants and bone grafts, but I wasn't pressured into extra services as it was a far rear molar. Pricing was very up-front, and the extraction itself literally took all of 3 minutes. I couldn't believe how quickly and smoothly Dr. Hopkin took care of the removal! I didn't have any swelling, and I've needed minimal painkillers. I'm on the third day now and already almost completely pain free. If you need any oral surgery, this is a fantastic office!
