About Huntington Beach Periodontics & Dental Implants

Based on Delaware Street in the Garfield area of Huntington Beach, California, Huntington Beach Periodontics & Dental Implants is a dental practice serving the area. Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. I have been a patient of Dr. Braga for the past 3 years and I could not be any happier at how my gums and teeth came out. He is professional and kind and will take you step by step on all of your treatments. I have never felt any pain or discomfort and had the best of care. His bedside manner is great and his office staff is amazing. The office and equipment are clean and has a nice inviting environment.

Dr. Braga and his crew are consistently professional and exceptionally detail oriented. From the polite front office crew to the very accomplished hygienist folks, all aspects of the office are top shelf. When you strive to maintain a good office-team atmosphere, it really shows. The attention to detail is reflected all the way to the spotless treatment rooms and equipment. I've been to the good doc for treatment twice over the last six years. The staff understands these are not superficial or inexpensive treatments. Each time, my treatments and the overall care for patients I have observed has been nothing but the best. A huge thanks to the whole shop.

As someone who has seen many periodontists over two decades of chronic periodontal disease, I can confidently say that Dr. Braga is the best one. I'm only leaving him because I moved. Dr. Braga's skills and expertise are top-notch. His ethical standards of care are impeccable. Over my three years of seeing him, I experienced two big gum graft surgeries with him. The surgeries were successful and with minimal pain. He called me afterwards each time to make sure recovery was okay. In the lead up to the surgeries, he explained all the pros and cons of various options to me. He happily answered questions and went above and beyond to educate me, the patient. For example, when explaining the choice between using cadaver tissue vs. my own, he brought out slides to show me the difference. He told me not just "do this" but gave probabilities and statistics. His style is 'show vs tell' and I appreciate that as a patient. It comes down to the fact that he loves his field, and he is a good person. You get the sense that he really loves his profession and solving problems for patients. Finally and just as important, the office's hygienist Carmela is outstanding. She is so thorough with her cleanings, and a kind pleasant person to talk to. She helped keep my gums healthy for all these years. Thank you, Dr. Braga and Carmela!

I would highly recommend Dr. Braga and his staff. They went above and beyond to make my surgery successful. My case turned out to be more difficult than even he anticipated. His skills are exceptional. He is also kind, compassionate and thorough. He is always available to answer all my questions and concerns. I am blessed to have him as my doctor.
