About Ivory Dental Centre

Ivory Dental Centre is located at Suite G10A, 920 Massachusetts Avenue Northwest in Washington DC's 20001 zip code — the Mount Vernon Square and Shaw corridor of Northwest DC, near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and 9th Street that marks the transition between Capitol Hill's western approach, the Penn Quarter entertainment district, and the Shaw neighborhood to the north. Suite G10A suggests a ground-floor or lower-level commercial suite in a residential or mixed-use building on this Massachusetts Avenue block.

The 920 Massachusetts Avenue address is within walking distance of the Mount Vernon Square Metro station on the Yellow and Green lines, the DC Convention Center a block to the north, and the 9th Street corridor that connects Penn Quarter to the Shaw neighborhood. This location sits at the intersection of several DC neighborhoods in transition — Shaw's ongoing gentrification, the Convention Center's hospitality industry presence, and the residential density that has built up around the Mount Vernon Triangle.

The Ivory Dental Centre name combines the aesthetic connotation of "ivory" — the color of teeth, evoking whitening and cosmetic appeal — with "centre," the British spelling, which may reflect ownership or training with connections to British or Commonwealth dental traditions. General dental care at the practice covers comprehensive oral examinations, professional cleanings, restorative treatments, diagnostic imaging, and ongoing management of dental health for the Shaw and Mount Vernon Triangle patient base.

Suite G10A at 920 Massachusetts Avenue NW is accessible from the Mount Vernon Square Metro station and the surrounding Shaw and Penn Quarter street network. For DC patients in the Shaw, Mount Vernon Triangle, and Penn Quarter corridor who want a dental practice within the 920 Massachusetts Avenue building, Ivory Dental Centre provides accessible general care in one of DC's most rapidly evolving urban neighborhoods.

Dr Fatmi and Alexus did a great job with my fill and cleaning today. We were able to get me all squared away in one visit and scheduled a whitening for my wedding in a few months. I’ve been going to Ivory Dental for nearly 5 years so highly recommend, staff is great!

I had a lovely experience here! Dr. Fatmi is extremely knowledgeable and her assistant, Alexusa, was very helpful and kind. Also special thanks to Kelley at the front desk for making everything run so smoothly. I had a filling of a chipped tooth and everything was efficient, quick, and professional. Beautiful office and lovely staff.

It is always a pleasant experience visiting Ivory Dental. Dr. Fatmi is always joyful and gentle. Alexus is careful with the instruments and thorough. The Dental Hygienist, Tiffany, has been marvelous with cleaning, gentle and very careful to explain the "why's and wherefores" of the process. I have been careful to follow her instructions. After years of skipping dental work, I am more than pleased with the outcome of the work this team has completed on my 70+ year old teeth.

very kind and accommodating! I kept changing my appointment, but they were very flexible and reached out to me to make sure I was seen. My out of pocket cost was low, but ofc that depends your insurance. The providers and receptionists were very friendly and thorough. Clean, modern space. Excellent dentist :)

I was a bit disappointed with the lack of information provided to me upfront about which specialist is in network and which is not. I was told I needed an additional procedure done ( which im getting a second opinion on) and so a specialist was brought in after i accepted the consultation( but I was not told that she was not in network). The procedure she suggested ( which im still not sure i need given that i saw another specialist about 6 months ago who said I did not need additional procedures and was confused when I told her that my dentist said i did) would cost at least double what an in network specialist would cost, if not more. Only after the specialist consulted with me was i informed that she was actually out of network. Had I known that to begin with, I wouldn't have accepted the consultation. When I expressed that the amount I would need to pay for the procedure was not within my budget to the front office staff, a staff member immediately presented me with financing options which felt a bit unnecessary since the main issue was that i would be paying for an out of network procedure that i could easily do in network for a fraction of the cost. Another thing I thought a bit odd was that I was immediately asked to fill out a review for the specialist based on my 20 minute consultation with her. I didn't really have much feedback, besides her politeness and immediate availability. But I felt pressure to complete it in the office. I think a better way is to suggest it to patients and allow them to fill it out at home. For anyone who visits the office for more than cleaning, I would recommend asking questions proactively before agreeing to speak with a specialist but I do think better customer care would be to tell the patient that the specialist is out of network so they can make a fully informed decision. I also would recommend bringing any scans of your teeth etc ( if they are recent) before your first appointment so you're not having to pay again for something you have just gotten done. Additionally, another negative incident I had about last year was being mistakenly told that my insurance would cover a certain amount for braces by the front desk staff. Good thing I double checked with my insurance because that was simply not true and my insurance covered significantly less ( or possibly nothing at all) than what I was told by the front office staff. If you do choose to go here, I would just recommend being very proactive with insurance and waiting before immediately saying yes to a suggested procedure, especially if you can get another opinion and especially if you can find someone network.
