About J. Christopher Williams D.M.D.

J. Christopher Williams D.M.D. is a dental practice on 14th Avenue South in the Beaches area of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Holistic, or biological, dentistry applies standard dental diagnosis and treatment within an approach that emphasises material choice and conservative treatment, considering oral health as connected to the body more broadly rather than treating the mouth in isolation.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. You can reach J. Dr. Williams and his staff are very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Love, Dr. Williams!!! He is Very helpful in advising us the best way to treat my husband's situation with having teeth pulled, not taking care of his teeth, needing Bridges, partials and how to proceed. Only problem is they don't take any insurance. They will give you receipts so you can file your insurance. Lisa at the front desk is very friendly and super helpful!!!

I made an appointment for a new temporary crown. The appointment I was given was at 3:45pm. When I showed up for the appointment I was told they would glue the old crown back for me, which is not what I wanted (as it was no good). I said I made an appointment for a new crown. The assistant said they would not be able to work on me as doctor usually leaves at 4pm and he needed 2 hours for the crown work. Doctor never came out, I asked the assistant to check with him if he could honor my appointment and she said no. The next appointment they offered was a month away. In no way they cared or apologized for not honoring the appointment.

On Thursday, October 30th I had an unpleasant encounter with Lisa, the receptionist. This office gave me dental floss that shredded when I used it. It left a huge amount of floss stuck between two of my back teeth that was extremely uncomfortable. I was unable to remove it. Lisa was insensitive to my needs and rude when I stopped in to get help removing it. She said that the staff also hated the floss. I feel that if they provide an inferior product they should have offered to help me. Further insult was that Dr Williams did not return a call when I requested it. Very unprofessional.

I had a really disappointing experience at this office because of one of the staff members, Lilly. From the moment I walked in, her energy was uncomfortable and passive aggressive. She made me feel uneasy the entire time, and it completely ruined my visit. The dentist was actually very kind and professional, but Lilly’s attitude overshadowed the whole experience. It’s unfortunate because I really liked the dentist, but I don’t feel comfortable coming back as long as she’s there.
