About James Island Family, Cosmetic, and Implant Dentistry

Booking a 7:30am cleaning and still making a nine o'clock meeting downtown is the quiet practical advantage of this office. James Island Family, Cosmetic, and Implant Dentistry opens at 7:30 Monday through Thursday and stays open Friday morning until 1:00pm, which covers the two slots working patients actually ask for. Day to day the work is ordinary general dentistry: check-ups and cleanings, white filling material that blends into the tooth, crown and bridge restorations, and the deep scaling and root planing that has to bring gum disease under control before any cosmetic plan makes sense.

The name signals a second layer, and this is where the usual general-versus-specialist split narrows. Most family offices restore implants and refer the surgery elsewhere; this practice describes itself as full-service, with a periodontist on staff alongside sedation and Invisalign. Where that applies to your case it changes the logistics considerably — extraction, any bone grafting, fixture placement and the final crown can be sequenced under one roof rather than divided between two front desks running two separate treatment plans. Dr. Beall has practiced on James Island since 1998 and holds a faculty position at the Medical University of South Carolina's dental school.

Implants deserve honest framing. A single implant is rarely a one-visit procedure: once the fixture is placed, bone has to grow onto its surface, and that integration typically takes three to six months before a crown can be loaded onto it. Cost varies more than most people expect. A premolar site with good bone volume produces a very different quote from a molar needing a sinus lift or a graft first. Ask for the full sequence itemized in writing, abutment and crown included, not just the implant fee. Sedation is not one thing either: nitrous oxide clears in minutes and you drive yourself home, while oral or intravenous sedation means arranging a ride and losing most of the day.

531 Folly Road sits on the commercial spine of James Island, across from Melvin's Legendary Barbecue and the Publix shopping center, with free parking — not a trivial detail when the alternative is hunting a metered space downtown. It is a straight run for James Island and Folly Beach households and workable from the peninsula via the James Island Connector. From Mount Pleasant or North Charleston it is a longer trip than the mileage implies.

A full-service James Island practice at 531 Folly Road offering general and cosmetic dentistry alongside implants, sedation and Invisalign, with a periodontist on staff so surgical and restorative stages can be sequenced in the same office. Doors open at 7:30am Monday through Thursday, with free parking on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the whole dental implant process be done at one office?
This practice describes itself as full-service with a periodontist on staff, which, if it fits your case, means extraction, grafting, implant placement and the final crown can be planned and carried out in the same building. The advantage is coordination: one set of scans, one treatment plan, one team accountable for the outcome. Confirm at the consultation that your specific case is being handled in-house rather than partly referred out.
How early can I be seen before work at 531 Folly Road?
Doors open at 7:30am Monday through Thursday, and Friday runs 8:00am to 1:00pm. An early cleaning here usually leaves enough time to reach the peninsula by nine over the James Island Connector, traffic allowing, and free parking on site removes the other morning variable. Longer appointments such as implant surgery or multiple crowns are better booked on a day you are not watching the clock.
Why do I need scaling and root planing before cosmetic work?
Because veneers, crowns and whitening all sit against gum tissue, and inflamed gums bleed, recede and change shape. Scaling and root planing removes bacterial deposits from root surfaces below the gumline, usually under local anesthetic and often across two visits. Once the tissue settles, restoration margins can be placed accurately and the result stays stable. Cosmetic work done over active gum disease tends to look good briefly and fail early.

I am not much into social media. So, I often am not responding to evaluation requests. I understand that could be interpreted in different ways. I wish to assure you all of my appreciation for all you have ever done and continue to do for me. I believe I’m one of your most frequent visitors and have never had any regrets. I was particularly impressed recently by your concern when the office made several calls to advance my appointment which unfortunately were not convenient. I know I have lots of dental needs and I have found in you all a very caring team just right for me. I have never doubted that. Thanks for all you do. God bless you. 8/27/24 A friendly caring professional atmosphere. Couldn’t ask for more. Thanks for your services. 9/8/25 Thanks for the great service. Friendly and inviting atmosphere in addition to top professional services. God bless you all! 8/10/26 Visit was a disappointment for both doctor & myself. Anesthesia didn’t take effect making it impossible to continue planned work. I appreciate the doctor and the staff’s patience and professionalism throughout the experience.

Dr. Beall and his staff were exceptional. I had a crown come off on a Sunday night while in town on vacation. I was able to easily book an appointment online for early Monday morning and they were able to promptly treat me. My final result is phenomenal. I highly recommend their practice.

Absolutely the BEST on James Island. Since my husband, daughter and I have been coming here , I have told everyone I know there is no where else we would go. The staff is friendly, caring AND makes you laugh. They make everyone that walks in the door comfortable and feeling like they will never have to look for another dentist again! Thank you all for making going to the dentist such a great experience.

I had a good experience during my first visit. I’ve found a new dental home for my hygiene needs. Tracy,, the RDH was exceptional. She explained everything she was doing with me throughly and precisely. We had a good conversation. I love it when professionals get to know their patients.

Went for a regular teeth cleaning and removal of teeth gems. The office/rooms are welcoming and clean. The hygienist and dentist were very knowledgeable, quick, professional and friendly. I really enjoyed my experience here and will return for future cleanings, exams and dental work!! I’m also 7 months pregnant and they ensured I was comfortable, supported and had bathroom breaks the whole time. Thanks all!!!

I moved to CHS about 2 years ago and would plan trips back home around the dentist because my home office was amazing. Safe to say I no longer need to, JI family dentist is the BEST, I genuinely can’t recommend this establishment enough. Immediately upon walking in my name was on a cute letter board with a few others (they hand put in each letter to each name which means they put in the time and effort to make sure you are known and welcome) I thought that was such an adorable and thoughtful touch! I sat for maybe 2 minutes when I was greeted with a name and a smile and brought back. I was in Lynn’s hands and she was made to work in a dentist office. She is so unbelievably kind, she listened to all my dental concerns, she even taught me a lot of things I didn’t know but will definitely come in handy. She was so gentle, and did an amazing job. She gave me lots of tips and tricks as well as pointed out what I was doing right which is so nice, sometimes anything health related you just hear the cons but Lynn is so optimistic! It really gives you that feeling of okay I do know what I’m doing, which we all need to feel time to time. Dr. Hassin was just as great, such a intelligent and whitty doctor, it made the visit that much more enjoyable. That’s right, ENJOYABLE, I enjoyed the dentist (it’s possible people)! She also got a bonus in my book for cute pink gloves. I will be recommending all family and friends to use this office, the entire staff was so kind, the office was bursting with personality through and through! For as long as I am in CHS this will be my dentist!
