About John E. Russo, DMD Family and Cosmetic Dentistry

Based on North Mills Avenue in the Lake Eola Heights area of Orlando, Florida, John E. Russo, DMD Family and Cosmetic Dentistry is a dental practice serving the area. A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Cosmetic treatment is generally the least invasive branch of dentistry, built around changing how teeth look rather than fixing something broken. Whitening and bonding sit at the lighter end; veneers and reshaping involve more planning. Most cosmetic dental insurance excludes this kind of work, since it is elective rather than medically necessary.

Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.

A crown covers an entire damaged tooth — used when too much structure is missing for a filling to hold reliably, whether from a large fracture, extensive decay, or after root canal treatment. It restores both the shape and the biting strength of the tooth underneath.

Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control. What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?
A crown covers the entire tooth and is a restorative treatment for a tooth that is structurally compromised. A veneer covers only the front surface and is primarily cosmetic. Which one applies depends on how much sound tooth is left.
When do you actually need a crown instead of a filling?
A crown is used when too much of the tooth is missing for a filling to hold reliably — after a large fracture, extensive decay, or root canal treatment. The crown covers the whole tooth and takes the biting force off the weakened structure.
What is scaling and root planing?
It is a deep cleaning that goes below the gumline to remove bacterial deposits from the root surfaces and smooth them so the gum can reattach. It is normally carried out under local anaesthetic, often over more than one appointment.

Doctor John Russo is always professional, timely and the least painful Dentist I've ever had work on my teeth. Clean modern facilities and very competant staff and Hygienists.

I would 100% recommend this dental office to everyone! Not only is Dr. Russo extremely thorough, communicative, and friendly, the whole staff is as well. I haven't been to the dentist in a while and decided it was time to get my oral hygiene back on track. When I first arrived to the office I was greeted by Erica and Sonya. They were so welcoming and funny. They kept me entertained even though I did not have to wait long. I had an appointment to get my teeth cleaned with Pam and she was absolutely amazing. I was nervous about my teeth but she was so reassuring and funny. Dr. Russo then checked over my teeth and explained a detailed plan to fix my needs. I was astonished on how much I learned about my teeth! I have broken two retainers since getting my braces off and never thought much about it but I learned it is because I grind my teeth when I sleep at night so I have a second appointment to go back and get that done. The whole experience was lovely. The office is clean and pretty, and again the entire team is truly outstanding. I trust them with my oral hygiene and dental needs and will continue to not only keep going back but also strongly recommend this dental office.
