About John R Provenzano Dds
John R Provenzano Dds is a dental practice on South Clifton Avenue in the Schweiter East area of Wichita, Kansas. General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.
Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. I have my upper left teeth pulled 5 days ago still having severe pain and left jaw and her teeth were extracted I have tried to contact the doctor provenzano and get no answer this is absolutely unacceptable they have no 24-hour line to talk or even help me treatment I thought we were out of the medieval days this guy is definitely medieval
Went here on 01/11/2017. Extremely rude, no patience, was not compassionate at all and kicked us out of his office for asking for a biting block to help with the injections because of the dental anxiety I had.
As always, my last appointment at Dr. Provenzano's office was an enjoyable experience. He performed oral surgery on me and removed over a dozen teeth and followed up with me the next day to let me know if I needed anything or had questions not to hesitate to contact him. He truly wanted to know how i was recovering from my major oral surgery. He and his staff are committed to excellence and professional care when it comes to my personal dental health care plan. The great staff has provided this old fart (US Marine Veteran) better care then any other care I have ever received through the VA Health Care System. I highly recommend Dr. Provenzano and his staff to everyone in need of top quality dental care.
This office is TOXIC! You will notice that as soon as you walk in the door. Just wait! The office staff is HATEFUL. Their billing is creative to say the least! They bill and if they make an error on the claims, they don't bill again- you just owe cash. They also double bill insurance. I had double dental insurance and they said they paid nothing for a PANO! Like- come on here. Delta Dental didn't pay for a Pano? Then- the consultation fee is 150.00 that the don't tell you about and not covered by insurance. So I call out of desperation because I was told by the Dentist that he was the best in town. They call me 2 days before my appointment and tell me that I owe the 258.00 that needed to be paid to the collection agency before being seen. So-I say ok. Then I call back and ask her about the consultation/appointment and what is due up front. She says I need to pay the whole 150 plus the collection agency fee. I ask her if the consultation fee can be paid at the time of the wisdom tooth extraction instead of at the time of the consultation. She says no. I told her that I couldn't pay it all at once, a normal human would discern that I wouldn't make the appt. Got paid on Friday - called and paid the collections agency. Then, called to let them know and the office person REFUSED to schedule me because I no showed. REFUSED to schedule me and told me that she wasted her time calling the collection agency twice the day of my appt, How about you check in with me to see if it was paid. Honestly its ok with me because the idea of going to this office and supporting their business made me want to puke! Southwind is getting me taken care of and there is no consultation fee! The office staff was kind and welcoming and I am filing a chargeback on the collection agency payment and reporting them to the insurance commissioner. You have GOT to be kidding me! RUN TO ANY OTHER OFFICE EXCEPT THIS ONE!
After missing my consultation appointment, yet showing up on the scheduled date for my procedure, they were accommodating and got everything done that day. We removed all 4 wisdom teeth, was out in 45 min. It took longer for me to feel the nitrous than it took Dr. Provenzano to remove all 4 of the teeth. He talked me through everything before hand, addressed all questions/concerns, and told me what he was doing before doing it through the entire appointment. He also lets you know beforehand that we will NOT yank/pull on your teeth if they are resistant, and will use other methods. I had no bruising, no swelling, and was essentially fully recovered in 48hrs. That will obviously vary with each person, but his methods and care do help minimizing recovery necessary. He also called that evening to check on me and answer any new questions, which is a lost and appreciated trait. Dr. Provenzano is very personable, and his sense of humor will help calm nerves. The entire staff was very friendly as well. I can't recommend Dr. Provenzano highly enough.
I had my wisdom teeth removed here, and while the procedure itself was fine, I was shocked to receive a $150 bill for a consultation fee that was never mentioned by the staff at any point. I’ve tried calling the office at least 10 times to get clarification, but no one ever picks up my calls. This lack of communication and transparency is really frustrating and unprofessional. Patients deserve to know about all potential charges before treatment, and to be able to reach someone if there's an issue. I can’t recommend this clinic based on my experience.
Dr. Provenzano took all 4 of my wisdom teeth out under nitrous oxide and he made me feel SO comfortable. He explained everything he was going to do before he did it & had a great sense of humor! I was VERY nervous & he did a great job. His staff was very nice as well. 10/10 would recommend!
I had a great experience with Provenzano, then again, I'm not a difficult person. Other reviews comment that Dr. Provenzano is arrogant but he didn't rub me the wrong way. He's really great at his job!!! He's fast-paced, but kindly listened to my concerns before the surgery. I got my wisdom teeth removed and three baby teeth. I had never had a shot in the mouth or an IV before. He called later that day to check on me, I really appreciated that. I didn't have any bruising on my face and I healed remarkably fast. I didn't have a problem with billing either. They gave me an accurate estimate before the day of surgery. I didn't feel like they were trying to rack up a bill. Plus, I told my orthodontist I was going here and he spoke highly of Provenzano as well.
