About Johnson Elite Orthodontics

By 2453 East, 3300 South has already climbed onto the Millcreek bench, and it keeps rising east from here toward Wasatch Boulevard, the I-215 interchange and the mouth of Millcreek Canyon about a mile further up. The practice sits on that stretch in Suite 201, on the second floor of a multi-tenant building. The drive in is straightforward from Millcreek, Holladay, East Millcreek, and the Skyline High attendance area. Anyone coming from the west side of the valley should budget extra, because 3300 South backs up badly around the Highland Drive intersection through the afternoon. Weekdays run 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with Wednesday extended to 6:00 p.m., the only evening slot of the week and the first one to fill.

Dr. Spencer Johnson treats children, teens, and adults, and the appliance list is broad: traditional metal brackets, clear ceramic brackets, the Damon self-ligating system, Invisalign, and Spark aligners. Where the practice goes further than a typical office is anchorage. Braces move teeth by pushing against other teeth, which means every force has an unwanted equal and opposite effect, and pulling a canine back tends to drag the molars behind it forward. A temporary anchorage device solves that. A titanium mini-screw a few millimeters long is placed in the jawbone under local anesthetic, giving the wire a fixed point that cannot move. It makes movements routine that once required headgear or jaw surgery, including closing large spaces and bringing over-erupted molars back into line. Placement takes minutes, soreness lasts a day or two, and the screw is removed when treatment ends.

Digital impressions and 3D scanning replace putty trays, digital radiographs keep the dose low, and a soft-tissue laser is on hand for the small gum contouring that sometimes finishes a case where teeth erupted unevenly. Early treatment is offered where a child's crowding or crossbite is easier to correct during active skeletal growth than once that growth has finished, and every case closes with retainers, because teeth keep drifting for life and coming out of braces does nothing to stop it. Consultations are complimentary, and a points-based rewards program is aimed squarely at the teenagers who actually wear their elastics. A second office in the Daybreak area of South Jordan serves the south end of the valley.

An east-bench orthodontic practice on 3300 South offering metal, ceramic, and Damon self-ligating braces alongside Invisalign and Spark aligners, with temporary anchorage devices used for tooth movements that once needed headgear or surgery. Wednesday runs until 6:00 p.m., and initial consultations are complimentary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an appointment time that works after a workday?
Wednesday runs until 6:00 p.m., which is the only evening slot in the week. Every other weekday closes at 5:00 p.m. Those Wednesday late appointments are the first to be claimed, so ask about them when you start treatment rather than month by month. If Wednesday will not work at all, the practice runs a second office in Daybreak, South Jordan, which may suit a different commute better.
What is a TAD, and does placing one hurt?
A temporary anchorage device is a small titanium screw set into the jawbone to give braces a fixed point to pull against, so the teeth you want to move actually move and the ones you do not stay where they are. Placement takes a few minutes under local anesthetic, and most patients describe pressure rather than pain. Soreness lasts a day or two, and the screw is removed once the movement is complete.
Should a teenager get braces or clear aligners?
Both work, but they fail in different ways. Braces are fixed, so they keep working regardless of discipline. Aligners come out for eating and depend on twenty to twenty-two hours of daily wear. If your teenager is likely to leave trays in a locker, fixed brackets are the safer bet. Aligners suit a self-managing teen who plays contact sports or a wind instrument, where brackets are the bigger nuisance.

Beyond Grateful for This Amazing Team! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Johnson and the phenomenal staff at Elite Orthodontics. From the moment you walk through the door, you are treated with the utmost care, professionalism, and genuine kindness. What truly set this practice apart for me was finally being heard. Dr. Johnson is the very first orthodontist to actually agree with me about needing surgery. After feeling dismissed elsewhere, it was incredibly comforting and validating to have a specialist look at my case, understand my concerns, and confirm exactly what I needed. It gave me so much peace of mind moving forward with my treatment plan. As an added and deeply thoughtful bonus, they have a wonderful support animal named Bracket who can be right there with you during your appointments. Having Bracket by my side provided so much comfort and completely eased any appointment anxiety. If you are looking for an orthodontic team that listens, validates your needs, and goes above and beyond for patient comfort, look no further than Dr. Johnson and his team. They are truly elite!
