About Jones Family Dentistry

Ridgewood Road threads through the residential grid of Northeast Jackson between Old Canton Road and County Line, and Jones Family Dentistry occupies Suite 105 at number 5800, in the 39211 ZIP. For anyone living in the neighborhoods on either side of it, that is about as convenient as dental care gets: a five-minute drive, easy parking, no interstate involved. For everyone else the schedule is the deciding factor, and it is genuinely narrow. The office runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only, from 8:30 a.m. until early afternoon, with no Monday, Friday or weekend session. If you can take a midweek morning, this works well. If you are on shift work or cannot leave a desk before two, a five-day office will serve you better.

The listed treatment focus is tooth replacement, and bone grafting is the part patients tend to be least prepared for. Once a tooth is gone, the bone that used to hold its root has nothing loading it and gradually resorbs, noticeably within the first year and steadily after that. An implant needs a certain width and height of stable bone to sit in, so where the ridge has thinned, graft material goes in first: your own bone, processed donor tissue or a synthetic mineral, acting as a scaffold your body remodels into living bone over several months. It is reliable, but it is not fast, and imaging is repeated before an implant date is set.

Full-mouth rehabilitation is offered too, which is a sequence rather than a procedure. Where wear, decay or missing teeth have changed how the jaws meet, treatment gets staged across quadrants and may combine extractions, grafting, implants, crowns and bridges over many months, sometimes with a temporary phase to test a new bite height before anything is made permanent. Ask for the sequence and its decision points in writing at the outset.

General family dentistry rounds out the practice. The website leans on relationships rather than equipment lists, so a phone call is the quickest way to confirm whether a specific treatment is done in-house or referred.

Jones Family Dentistry runs from Suite 105 at 5800 Ridgewood Road in Northeast Jackson, a residential catchment between Old Canton Road and County Line. The schedule is the thing to plan around: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only, 8:30 a.m. to early afternoon, with no Monday or Friday session. Listed treatment covers general family dentistry alongside dental implants, bone grafting, oral surgery and staged full-mouth rehabilitation. The practice describes itself in relationship terms rather than equipment, so call to confirm scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is this practice actually open?
The schedule is unusually tight: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only, from 8:30 a.m. until early afternoon. There are no Monday, Friday or weekend sessions. That works well if you have flexible midweek mornings and much less well for shift workers or anyone who cannot leave work before two. Book further ahead than you would at a five-day office, and phone rather than wait for an online slot to appear.
Why would I need a bone graft before an implant?
Jawbone that no longer holds a tooth root gradually resorbs, and an implant needs enough width and height of stable bone to sit in. A graft places material, whether your own bone, processed donor tissue or a synthetic mineral, as a scaffold your body remodels into its own bone. It works well, but it adds months to the timeline, and imaging is repeated before the implant is placed.
What does full-mouth rehabilitation involve?
It is a sequenced plan rather than a single procedure, used when wear, decay or missing teeth have changed the way the jaws meet. Treatment gets staged across quadrants and can combine extractions, grafting, implants, crowns and bridges over many months, sometimes with a temporary phase to test a new bite height first. Ask for the sequence and its decision points in writing before anything begins.

Dr. Snell is one the best dentists I've ever experienced. It was very important to me to find a respectable black dentist to patronize. I lucked out and found a Queen who understands people from all walks of life especially special needs children and their parents. I not only stand with Dr. Snell (except on HBCUs), but I support her in ANY endeavor she has.

I'm so glad that I found Dr. Snell. The entire experience was great. She responded immediately to my request. Her entire staff were friendly and professional. Her touch is gentle and very welcoming. She is very engaging and operating in her gift

Cannot overstate how great my experience here was. I came in for a regular cleaning — had been looking for a Black dentist for a while, but unfortunately there were none in the area where I used to live. After my cleaning, I talked to her about some pain that I’d been experiencing. She took five minutes to file down two of my fillings and I’ve been eating pain free for the first time in two years. CANNOT thank her enough. And I cannot recommend this establishment enough.

Today was my first visit ever. I absolutely LOVE this office and the staff. I usually have anxiety when going to the dentist, but from the moment I walked through the door I was relaxed and felt like family! I didn't have to wait long after arriving. I was handled with care and treated like a family member or best friend. My concerns were addressed and a plan was formulated for treatment. Dr. Wiggins was the absolute BEST! We laughed and talked and she gave me some great advice. The young lady that took my images was the absolute sweetest and very caring. The young lady at the check-in/check-out window was awesome. I will be telling everyone I know about this establishment! I'm locked in for life! Thank you so much to the staff for everything. Ridgewood Smiles is where it's at!

UPDATE: After my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised that Dr. Snell personally called me herself later that evening to apologize for the type of service I'd received and rescheduled my appointment. She said that she'd use that experience as a training opportunity for her staff. When I arrived for the rescheduled appointment, the experience was quite different...in a positive. The wait time was only 15 minutes and she even gave me a Domino's Pizza gift card. I really appreciated that she and her staff remembered my experience the first time and made the effort to correct it. I will certainly return to her and refer my family and friends. ORIGINAL: Based on the other reviews, it appears that most people have had a pleasant experience here. Today is my first visit. The sitting area is very welcoming and smells great. I've had the chance to view every square foot of it because I've been waiting here for more than an hour, with no explanation. I've watched as other people, with appointments scheduled after mine, be called to the back after a 10-15 minute wait. Communication is key and I'm EXTREMELY frustrated right now. I hope no other new patient has this experience.

I really enjoyed my experience. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. The office was very professional and well put together. Dr. Snell even had a complete outline of upcoming services and treatments that I needed right after the first visit. It didn't make me feel like just a patient or dollar amount . So happy I was referred to a great practice.
