Nice people
If I could give this office ZERO STARS I would've! Let me say If you have a STATE-FUNDED or GOVERNMENT dental insurance plan, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience left me feeling that this office has little interest in treating patients with these plans, despite being listed as a participating provider and receiving the perks that come with it!! This was my SECOND visit to Dr. Sabet @ Santa Monica Dental Office after more than three years, and I was already hesitant to return because of my first experience. At that visit, I was told I needed a "DEEP CLEANING" that was NOT covered by my Health Net plan, costing me an additional $200. Unfortunately, it was the WORST cleaning I've ever had—it certainly did not feel like a deep cleaning, more like a basic polishing. I decided to give the office another chance because some recent reviews seemed more positive. I arrived with PAIN in an upper back tooth and even had recent X-rays from my excellent hygienist sent over for reference. After about 10 minutes, two X-rays, and a few cold sensitivity tests, I was told my pain was NOT coming from the cavity I know I have, but from gum recession. The recommended treatment was BONDING ON FOUR TEETH WHERE THE ENAMEL HAD WORN AWAY, at a cost of $225 PER TOOTH. I was surprised that BONDING was presented as the solution for gum recession and tooth pain, and unsurprised when I was told it was NOT COVERED by insurance. When I asked questions, the dentist became noticeably impatient and repeatedly insisted I had NO CAVITIES. Rather than taking the time to explain my condition or discuss reasonable treatment options, I was sent the office manager to discuss the COST of the bonding procedure. Compassion, honesty and Patient Care THAT IS TRULY LACKING AT THIS OFFICE should NEVER depend on the type of insurance someone carries. As someone approaching 65, I understand that many seniors live on fixed incomes and rely on the insurance they have earned. Providers should recognize that and treat EVERY patient with the same respect, empathy, and professionalism. I am also a WOMAN OF COLOR, and while I would prefer not to think this contributed to the lack of service, I cannot ignore that I left feeling dismissed, unheard, and treated differently than I would expect any patient to be treated. I declined the treatment, asked to be removed from their patient list, and left. I will be finding a dentist who values TRANSPARENCY, genuinely accepts my insurance, and is committed to helping patients—not simply selling services.
EXTREMELY PAINFUL CLEANING
I was a nervous wreck when I walked in I've been to airport dentist office so I knew the faces of a few staff that was there today I remember Dr. Sabet I was a little at ease when I found out he was the doctor I was seeing today but still was nervous because I had my teeth extracted but let me tell you all it was a breeze I didn't expect it to be so fast so easy and not painful at all Dr. Sabet and Emily made me feel so comfortable they cracked a few jokes Ms Emily was holding my man before he started rubbing my hair like she was my mother lol I felt super comfortable after that I can go on and on but I'll just let you guys know they will take care of you and make you feel comfortable make you feel like you're family THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU please go see Dr. Sabet for your dental needs he is theeeee best
DO NOT GO HERE! I’m sharing this review to document ongoing concerns with this dental office’s diagnosis and billing practices. I went in for a routine exam and cleaning and was told I needed two cavities filled. I requested my X‑rays, which took weeks to receive. After taking them to another dentist for a second opinion, I was told that no fillings were needed. Fast forward two years, and my husband recently received an insurance claim and bill for $1,700 for a tissue graft procedure that he never had done, by a doctor he has never even seen. We haven't lived in LA for over a year. When we contacted the office, they admitted it was a “mistake” and explained that they handle everything manually with paper records. Between being told I needed unnecessary dental work and later receiving a bill for a procedure that never occurred, this office has raised serious concerns for us around accuracy and billing integrity. We will not be returning.
Every time I have had a dental procedure with Dr. Sabet, it has gone smoothly with no pain or discomfort. He is exceptional at his dental work and makes me feel very comfortable and confident with the treatment process.
Atrocious customer service if you’re a normal patient needing regular cleanings. They make it obvious that they prioritize the high-dollar surgeries and de-prioritize routine cleanings because they don’t profit off of them. They won’t even schedule your appointment when they find out it’s for a routine cleaning.
